I have read lots of threads asking how it works and how to test and how to operate. Well here it is.

The passenger side hub on my truck was hard to turn by hand last winter. It wasn't as bad as having to use pliers but it gave your forearm a good workout to get it to lock. After the snow finally melted, it slipped my mind. Then the u-joint on the axle shaft went. When I removed the hub, what I saw inside wasn't pretty. A few needle bearings and a bunch of metallic slivers inside the wheel bearing where the hub sits. I cleaned that out, looked at my now dead hub, greased the heck out of it and stuck it back together. It turns easily now (that it is dead) and does engage the axle (probably only until I need it, then it won't lock). I just don't know how reliable that will be.my driver side hub is really hard to turn by hand and it doesn't engage when i use the ESOF (passenger side works fine). i've been turning it manually with pliers but i'm wondering if it just needs to be greased or something. anyone have the same problem?
You can, but it requires about 2 grand in parts. Dynatrac Hub Conversion Kiti wish i could replace them with aftermarket like the 99-04 style...
