Has anyone done a 2008+ steering wheel upgrade or use one from a F150? Our steering wheels are butt ugly straight out of a van. I heard the splines are different on the 2008 steering wheel..god knows why'd they change all that and spend money retooling. I was also thinking of the steering wheel from an expedition. Hope to hear from someone that has done any of the above. Thanks!

Any luck on the 08+ wheel yet?
I would like to do this someday, but realistically its gonna be a while after the engine and drive-train upgrades. Still curious how it turns out and what would be involved though.

why would you need another airbag? Just use the one you have.

1999-2007 vehicles from the list below have the exact same steering wheel splines
The splines for these rigs look like this

In 2008, Ford pretty much went to a whole new steering column. The input shaft now looks like a hex (think stopsign)

so, after saying all of that, you CANNOT install a 2008+ style wheel on your 99-07 F-250 using the steering column it came with. Now, for the inventive/resourceful guy/gal...you can throw a 08+ column in there...or you can make an adapter.

You can run a 04-08 F-150 wheel. That is my plan. I bought a cheap 04 wheel (pictured above) that I'm going to get recovered in leather. I had a 06 F-150 with the same steering wheel controls as my current F-250 Lariat has. Whenever I get some free time I plan on installing the F-150 wheel for test fit. Then it should be a matter of just figuring out the wiring situation

case in point, here is a pic of my 2006 FX4 F-150 with Luxury package. I think it will go rather nicely with my current Lariat trim...and the future 08+ interior panels swap

Can the spline mount be removed from the F150 steering wheel and installed on the 08+steering wheel?

As you can see from the picture, the center section is cast integral to it. Same on the F-150. Shame. I have a few ideas that could get around that, but it would be alot of effort.

that's a pretty sweet carbon fiber steering wheel. You remember who the seller was? I saw three black leather wrapped wood grain trimmed steering wheels last week exactly like i want and just looked again to order and now they are all gone...WTF. I guess i'm gonna hafta wait and just keep checkin ebay again.

it was a wood grain and tan leather wheel that was on ebay and i messaged the seller to see if he had a black carbon and that is what he sent me. Should be here next week!
