Clanking noise? Maybe isolate it with a section of broom handle (or similar) against your ear while touching the various components. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out the source? Wouldn't think the belt breaking would cause you a problem and if it broke because of a bad pulley, that component should be quiet right now.

 

It's NOT easy on a 6.0, you have to take the fan shroud off, top radiator hose off, to get the belt on, it's a major PITA, you can't do this on the side of the road. :doh:

 

Oh? I didn't know that! The more I learn about the 6.0s the happier I am with my old 7.3!

 

Looks like about $89 for the belt and $85 for labor about... but apparently the cause of the belt breaking could be a seized pully?!?... im told that could be another 140 bucks...ugh

 

The tensioner bearing went out on mine and cut the belt, luckily it was still under warranty. I had them put a new extra belt on that I had with me, now it squeaks.:doh:

 

yeah my dad just had that happen to his 6.0 i think out the door with parts and labor it was about 540, but his was not covered by warranty.

 

Yes it can, done it. Just takes a 'lil to figure out exactly how it routes.

 

Mine just did the same today.... I am sooooooo not happy with this truck... I am < > this close to another cummins conversion

 

so im not sure if Ford did it or if the serpentine belt did it when it broke off...but...my damn power cord to the engine block heater was severed right in half... wonder if i can convince Ford to replace it for free? lol.

yeah. i know the price. i had to pay for a new tensioner, idler, belt, and labor at a dealership. 400-450$

 

I replaced the serp belt and tensioner on my dads 6.0, I didnt think it was to bad

 

did mine by working from the bottom up. Did not remove anything to do it

 

Took me about an hour just looking over it and figuring out the routing and the tensioner locking pin. To replace, took about 8 minutes. That's with the top fan shroud removal and replace. Easier then it looks. The old one didn't have sigh's of any wear so I keep it in the back as a spare.
