oil

i'm going to start using hot shots stiction eliminator. i'm running 5W-30 full synthetic rotella now with the lucas pure synthetic oil stabilizer.

i run 2qts stabilizer and the rest 5W-30.

is it ok to to add the hot shots to that combo??

diesel fuel

i run the white bottle of Diesel 911 in the winter and the silver one in the summer. I try to stay away from the red depending on how bad it is gelled up and if i really need to drive the truck.

i want to use the diesel extreme all the time at every fill up. will i still need the silver in the summer? and can i mix it with the white in the winter?

i read about it on line but did not get what i was looking for. any help is appreciated.

thanks

Not familiar with that brand. I’m using Archoil for my oil and fuel additive. So far I can’t say I’ve had any definite results as I just recently started using it. Im only on my 3rd fuel treatment and first oil change with adding the Archoil. I will say I’ve been watching my fuel mileage and noticing a slight increase in MPG. About 1 additional mile per gallon which isn’t bad. I’m actually not a big fan of so called “snake oils” but, a lot of people swear it, so I decided to try it out. But definitely let us know how it goes.

To me, the stuff that makes stiction symptoms disappear only prolongs the need to get the injector spools clean. Being in AZ, and never seeing a day that doesn't see 65 degrees and not having any days that dip below freezing, that is rather easy for me to say. I would definitely run something to stop fuel from gelling though. I had added Rev-X to the oil a couple of times, as preventative, but at $50 per treatment, that's too much unless I see real results. I also had been adding Lucas oil to the fuel, but I've stopped that also. I also finished using Diesel Kleen and won't go back. I just don't see any real improvement in MPG. I may have seen 1 MPG from Diesel Kleen, but that is so hard to measure with the extra gallon or two I can get in the tank after the pump stops.

The White, Red, and Silver bottles are Power Service Diesel Fuel Conditioners. The Silver version should keep you from gelling in the winter (If you don't live in the north country) under most circumstances. The 911 version is the red bottles and unless you're gelled you don't need it. It's been 0 and below several mornings of late and I still haven't had a problem. YMMV. I do run Power Service most of the time to help out the lubricity loss in fuel after it went to Ultra Low Sulfer in '07 I believe. I don't know much about Lucas Oil additives or Hot Shot Products. If/when I experience Stiction again I'll probably give RevX a go.

Archoil is the one that most guys on here prefer. The best part is the added lubrication, the stiction relief is a bonus. With Archoil you probably don't need the Lucas, actually prolly don't need the Lucas if you're running a good synthetic anyway.

when I had my commercial equipment semi, dozer, trackhoe I tried different additives most didn't do a thing but the additive brand that impressed the hell out of me was motor kote.
the oil treatment made a noticable improvement mileage on the truck and fuel consumption on the equipment, all the engines ran smoother,
quieter, and oil consumption was greatly reduced!

the fuel treatment also really impressed me, in the truck I added it during an oil and filter change before I took off on a 800 mile run much to my surprise the truck started running REALLY bad and on the road the little I could check out didn't yield any idea what was the problem, had it towed to the truck stop where the mechanic looked at it and discovered that the fuel filter was plugged tight
during the trip and and the next one I had to change out the filters two more times.

what had happened is it completely cleaned out the entire fuel system the tanks, lines pumps everything!

needless to say today it is my go to additive!!

Hotshots and diesel kleen brand are sold at tractor supply.. wally world and I know other parts stores. archoil is just too much for me to spend every time.. if it was a work truck or I made more $ then okay. interesting about the motor kote brand.
