Anybody know how much of the bed is chopped out for the dually fenders? Will a set of bushwhackers cover the opening providing I weld the bolt holes up?

Basically, I am looking to convert a dually to a single for various reasons and don't want to shell out 2500 for a bed. Lastly, what's the offset like with the '05 and up wheels on an '04 truck? I found a decent deal on some 20x10 with 33-13.50 tires. I heard they will stick way out though.

Hey guys!!! Going from drw to srw was easy. Remove bed, add srw bed, pull front drw spacers, add goeske sPacers and run +05 wheels. Done. Even got to keep the d80.

Now, the 2008 front axle conversion and the cool overs and four link front and rear... That I ran into a huge number of issues... Still trying to sort it all out.

Lessons learned though...

Can you post pics? I really wanna convert my truck over to SRW and if I could do it with out swapping rear ends what would be great.. I'm lowering my truck so I'm curious as to how at the wheels would stick out in the back because I'm wanting the wheels to be flush

If you go to the suspension section and look under 2002 cOnversion their is my build thread.

So all you did for the back was pull the dual wheels off and bolt the new ones on? Are the 05 Up wheels mandatory for fitment? This just seem super simple as compared to all the axle swapping and what not just making sure I'm not over looking somthing because I have a tendency to try and over complicate things lol

Yes ad no. I pulled the rear dually wheels off, pulled the front factory spacer off, put a goeske spacer on (it was a 2 inch spacer, cheaper than the 1 and 3/4 inch) and initially ran 99-04 wheels. They required a little lift because the offset made the tires rub the rear of the fender plastic. If you run 05+ wheels then no lift needed.

Or you can do a 05+ front axle conversion and run your current d80 out back. Then it's just 05+ wheels and everything is great.

I wanna go the other way, SRW to DRW. Any help here? I cant seem to find any threads related to this....Thx!

Easy way is buy a set of ford dually spacers for the front (I have a set if you need them) and a set of dually wheels...Then a set of dually fender flares or a dually bed.

Thats it.

More involved way would be all of the above plus a D80. I guess it really depends on how much you tow. If your worried about axle strength get the 80...if not (and from all I have been learning, the 80 isnt all that much stronger than the sterling) just stick with your factory axle.
