Nothing wrong with Motorcraft batteries, I'm running them in my 7.3 If you have a Rural King around I bought a set of these for my 6.0 https://www.ruralking.com/battery-auto-agm-rk-agm65.html and they work fine too. (Exide brand)

I run a pair of Kinetik HC2400-Pro power cells. It's overkill for most, but I have a pretty big stereo system, so they are perfect.

I've got these paired with a 370 amp alternator, an adjustable voltage regulator, and lots of 1/0 wiring.

For a while, I unknowingly had one disconnected, and it was starting and working fine on just one. Couldn't even tell a difference.

I have this battery tender: CTEK (56-353) MULTI US 7002. I've been happy with it.

I have it hard wired and it stays under my hood 24/7. I have that and two battery blankets plugged into an outdoor type power strip and the plug for that is run next to my block heater plug.

I just had my two motorcraft batteries replaced under warranty, as they were going bad about a month before the three year warranty expired. This isn't an endorsement of them based on that, but at least I got another set free and should be good for a while. I walked in, the guy gave me two new ones, and I swapped them out. At least they're new, but I'll probably think about something else in three years when/if they go bad unless I can get another set as a warranty replacement.

If you are not driving your truck much and are able to put a battery tender on it, I would definitely do that. My old Mustang used to sit for months, and the Optima that I had in there (kept on a battery tender) lasted for years with no issues whatsoever.

When I got in the truck to start it, started strong. Same truck, with the same batteries on an earlier two month trip, I went to start the truck, and the batteries were dead.

I now have a new job and house and am able to garage the truck and not travel, so the solargizer is still hooked up, but not used.

Unfortunately, everything I have heard is that the Motorcraft batteries you get from the dealership are not the same quality as the ones that come in the new trucks. I had good luck w/ new batteries, but not so good w/ the sets I picked up from the dealership.

I have come to believe that the EPA mandated any batteries not installed in new vehicles have to be made with recycled lead, which batteries made with recycled lead do not last as long. This is the only logical reason I can see off my internet searches that explain why the replacement batteries never last as long as the original factory batteries. Seven years for the original Ford Motorcraft battery on my brand new car, but two years like clockwork for every battery after that.

The Duramax GOld have been in my truck for three years. Not problem free, but will last a little longer I hope. The Duramax Gold batteries for me don't hold a charge well when it's cold, but in the desert South West, cold is not really a problem except one or two days a year.

Do you mean Duralast or are you using a Duramax to power a generator to start your Powerstroke?

EPA doesn't mandate that recycled lead must be used you can get virgin lead batteries but they will cost you I believe one such company to make them is Odessey.

Odyssey may be what I use next. Pricey, but claims a service life of 3-10 years.

To give an update, i ended up purchasing 2 Exide Edge FP-AGM65 AGM batteries back in March. They work great, i had to trim the drivers side battery tray a little bit to make it fit but otherwise i'm very happy with them.
I've also added a battery tender as the truck sits for extended periods of time.

I got two more Dura Last Gold batteries today. After almost four years, one of the batteries tested bad, and the clerk pro-rated the warranty for both batteries. I thought hard about the Odyssey, but with Dura Last Gold available locally and a pro-rated warranty, I went with them.

Per ED at FICMREPAIR.com: "Take a look at the X4 batteries at Batteries Plus." He told me that Batteries Plus no longer handles Odyssey batteries which may be a deal buster for me since the nearest dealer is now 100 miles away.

I just looked on the batteries plus website and odyssey is still on there. I've heard decent things about their X2 batteries also, however they're twice the cost i paid for the Exide AGM's i purchased, and the Exide have a true 48 month warranty.

I have heard great things about oddesy batteries. I have had interstate batteries and have to star my truck a lot In the cold. Every year I replace them. It is my fault they fail. Long cold crank and short drive no charging time. 3 years 3 sets of batteries. I will shell out the money and get the oddesy batteries next. I feel like my first will appreciate it.
