I have fuel collecting right below the banjo bolt is there more likely the pump or the copper washers in the banjo bolt? There are no leaks on the ground just the smell of fuel and collecting of fuel below banjo

Try tightening the banjo bolt a tad (1-1/4" wrench). Cheers!

i had a diesel leak on my father's truck i thought it was the rubber hoses, nope it was those damn washers. took me two tires to get it right. one was not seated properly and allowed it to leak. fixed it no more leaks.

part number F4TZ-9A375-A. they are about $6 at ford. my dealer had to order them so you may want to call ahead

that's true when i buy parts there. but when IH don't have something in stock it's always a week and ford can have it same day or next. and not everyone has an IH dealer in their town. i guess i will need to call them on every thing

I wanted to thank you guys for your input in this thread as well as some of the other fuel leak threads. I'm the new owner of an 1996 7.3l, and I'm enjoying it so far.

I had a leak which was dripping from the bellhousing cover. It was difficult to tell where the leak was coming from with the engine cover on. With it off and with a good flashlight I quickly determined that the source of the leak was the banjo. Who the heck keeps a 1-1/4" box end wrench handy? I guess that I do now.:D I was able to put a little bit on the banjo before my wrench ran out of stroke and I was not able to clock the wrench to get another pull on it. But, it was enough. Just a little bit of movement on the banjo nut tightened the connection and eliminated the leak. I never get this lucky!
