Is anyone else getting this error message on their '08? Mine only does it without a trailer connected which is puzzling. It would not be so bothersome if the message was not accompanied by a warning tone every time I step on the brakes! At least the stereo is loud enough to cover it up.

Thanks for looking. Dealer says there is no fix yet, and the Oasis system instructs the dealers not to replace the cluster because that will not resolve the issue. Ford thinks it is a moisture issue in the 7-way connector, but mine is bone dry and actually does it much less in the rain!

HMmmmm. Does it much less in the rain? That sounds like a contact problem to me. I think I would try to clean all connections & where the wires enter terminals / plugs with contact cleaner. I'd put some dialectric grease on the pin connections. Maybe some RTV silicone on the wire entry points. Just my :twocents:, but it couldn't hurt.

That would piss me off on a brand new truck! I wouldn't put up with that for more than two seconds... I can't hardly stand the seat belt sound and it's designed to do that!

I've recently encountered the same problem on my truck. I have two Haulmark trailers. A 7x14 utility trailer and a 8.5x28 car hauler. Both use the 7 pin connector and both have electric brakes. I have enevr had a problem with the 28 footer, but the 14 footer almost every time i hit hte brakes i get the fault message, and I feel a surge in the elcetric brakes for a second. I've checked the wiring, and haven't found anything wrong with the trailer. BUt since it's only happening with the small trailer, its hard for me to believe it's the truck. Only difference is I lower the trailer brake controller to 7.0 for the small trailer, while it's on 10 for the big one. Don't know if that could have something to do with it or not?????????

I am getting the same thing haven’t pulled a trailer with the truck yet. Did you ever get the issue resolved? any help would be great, my dealer told me it was my trailer and I told them I had not pulled with the truck yet they told me to make sure the cover on the 7pin was closed and not getting wet.

My truck had the same error message about a month ago. But mine came on alomst everytime I put it in gear or went to back up. Dealer found moisture in the 7 pin and at another connection along the frame rail. They applied diode grease and all has been well.

Wiring fault in trailer

I've got a new 2008 F250 FX4 and a new Keystone Raptor 5ver tiple axle. EVERY time i two it i get the wiring fault on trailer signal. The RV dealer and really gone the extra mile to determine IF/NOT the the fault of the RV and can't find anything. I'm taking the truck to the Ford dealer on Wed. however I don't hold much hope that they are going to find anything either.

Any thoughts on where i can go next...:dunno:.........Living in Southwest Florida.

Thanks for any input you might have!

So for those who have this problem, is the fix to put on a new plug? Mine hasn't done it until now. I pulled a small trailer with just the lights to plug in not the 7 pin but the 4 and now when I push the brakes the get the wiring fault, and no trailer attached.

I had the same issue and after pestering the warranty people, it turns out there is a design flaw in the bumper mounted 7 pin connector that allows moisture in and this causes slight shorting causing the error. The service department dried out my connector and put grease on the back of the connector and dielectric grease on the connectors. I have not had this problem again.

Well, I have not had it come back on in a while now. It came on right after we had a bad snow storm and I was towing a trailer. I bent the frame on it so it was at an angle and blew air in it. I think I dried it up that way and it's been ok since. Even with the smaller snow and rain storms we've had here.

I got the same message recently after towing a trailer in the snow for several days. When I disconnected the trailer I started getting the alert. I figured it was water in the connector, but its been 2 weeks now in 55-60 degree weather and it still hasnt gone away after trying to get everything dried out. What is fords fix for this issue?

Did anyone figure out a fix for this? My truck is doing it now also...

I have 08 after changing plugs, Ford ended up changing the wiring harness and that has fixed the problem. Seems there was a short somewhere in the wiring. Nothing worse than the error beep everytime you touch the brake with and without trailer.

How much did that cost?

Yea, thats sounds about right.

I had tail lights but no turn signals. I think thats how I found it. It was after I replaced a new trailer connector and cleaned out the connector at the truck when I ended up with just the tail lights that got me chasing wires and found that fuse out.
