What all do you do to it?

What have you fixed?

 

i bought it and put the edge on it and cold air intake and some mild injectors and i drove it for a few days and now its in the shop getting a new motor. So now i'm going to have 25 grand wrapped up in a 15 grand truck!!

 

You need to get head studs with a 6.0. They are not junk motors, they just need a little more loving, that is all. And, I don't know what you are used to, but I always thought they drove smooth and plenty of power even in stock forum. Make sure you change the oil, the have the HEUI system, and the injectors don't like dirty oil..

 

Don't get me wrong it drove nice but as soon as I decided to open it up and see what its got then BOOM!! i'm putting a new motor in her

 

Well, there's your first mistake, the edge. Should have researched a little before adding a programmer.

 

Should have got an SCT... Don't call Ford junk when maybe you weren't treating the truck nice. :icon_ford:

 

I'm not sure what sort of answer you expect to get, coming on in your first post and bashing Ford trucks on a forum where most love their Ford trucks. 03 was the first year for the 6.0, and not to mention the truck is now 8 years old. Maintenance history and how it was treated could have ALOT to do with why it has problems. Good luck with your junk truck, but if you want some advice and knowledge on how to fix it and take care of it then search this forum and learn the ins and outs of the 6.0.

 

A new motor? Holy crap man, have you ever bought a used vehicle before? Did you drive the truck or look it over before you bought it?

 

its got 95k original miles and the guy I bought it from just put in some injectors and never had a chip and he never pulled a trailer...

 

Pardon me while I laugh in the corner. But you just went by what he told you? Maybe spending $150-$200 on a mechanic to check out the truck would have been a wise choice. Meanwhile :hehe:

 

I think its just because Ford motor are junk... I have owned many powerstrokes and all I keep doing is putting more money into then that I never get back..

I call BS. You come here bashing Ford, and have offered no REAL proof of whats happening except your word ( no clue on how true that is.) If you hate Ford trucks, why did you buy one? Offer proof, or go away because you portray yourself as a troll looking to wrile a few people up.

 

I'm sorry to say that... I don't hate Fords, I actually think that Ford has some of the best looking trucks around now days. Its just these motors they are putting in the newer trucks arn't worth a rats ***!!!!

No I'm saying that no matter where or who you are buying a used vehicle from if you have a "buddy" who owns a shop that works on these trucks, have him check it out for any problems, regardless of what old man johnson tells you

Holy Crap, 25 grand for a motor! For that kind of money you could have a really nice powerful cummins swapped in for you. Making up 550 hp. If you want to keep it Ford then you should build up the replacement engine with studs, EGR delete, along with all the other little 6.0 fixes. Ford are great trucks, mine have been awesome!:icon_ford:

I have owned a 2004 6.0L, a 2010 6.4L, and now a 2011 6.7L. all were/are decent trucks, but require care and maintenance. It is what it is. You cant hold a comment over every Ford truck built because you have had bad luck. My 2004 went through 4 turbo chargers. was i angry?? yes, but what good was that doing? none.. My 2010 had 2 oil leaks, and two seperate fuel problems in less than a year and 12K miles. again, I was angry, but it is what it is. Now, my 2011 has almost 2K on the clock without a single powertrain issue. Im holding hopes that I finally have a truck that will go a few years without any issues.

I guess what Im trying to say is that things wear out, no matter how easy you drive them, use them, or whatever. You really came out on the wrong foot here, bashing what 100% of the members here love. If you need help, ask. If you need to vent.. vent, but know that most will not answer your posts or care what you have to say when you create a first thread/post like you have done.

 

Yeah I know what you mean Ford is a great truck and I have owned many of them over the years, but I got alot of buddies that have both newer and older chevys and dodges and they never have near the problems I do and never have to spend the money that I have to on the motor

 

Powerstrokenation is a lot rougher. I have 1,000 posts over there. I do not post here often, usually read a lot. But they are a lot nicer here. A lot of guys have accounts on both. However, if you are troll, you will leave fast....

 

Maybe you just need to look a little better and not buy the first thing you see..

 

I did alot of looking and this was the best truck i found, it had it for a few weeks and it was awesome but then as soon as i do a few mods to it and give it a little heavy foot she blows!!

You don't get injectors for these engines until about $4,000 has been spent in supporting mods.
And then you get on here and bash an entire brand because you blew up your truck while you don't have ANY clue what you're doing.
