I drove down to NC to pick up a boat & trailer and when I got back and tried to start my truck the next day, it didn't start on the first attempt. I tried turning it over again, and it went. Same thing happened later that night. Following day it wouldn't start at all, and I had to use a portable jumper. Today the portable jumper wouldn't even work so I jumped it from another car. Currently battery is reading 9.5 - 10.6v before I start it and once started it's 14.5ish. I'm about to drive to FL so I can't be playing around trying to jump it every day. What's the best batteries for our trucks?

Basic info I got was to get AGM
but the options are endless... some from the options from the threads I read are:

Sears Die Hard Platinum
Interstate batteries Costco
Sears Diehard Platniums
Power Premium AGM batteries
Duramx Golds from Autozone

so which 1?

FWIW the sears die hard is made by Johnson controls which, coincidentally, also makes the batteries that Walmart carries... juuuuuuust saying

And is one of the only remaining battery manufactures in the USA.

I put a set of the Walmart EverStarts in mine about 10 months ago. About 2 months ago I replaced them with 2 Interstates from Costco as one had a bad cell already (I couldn’t find the receipt to exchange for a new one under warranty). Fingers crossed on new ones and receipt is in the glovebox.

I personally do not agree with using the biggest cca rated batteries. The more cca's the batteries have means the more plates in the same amount of space. There is a reason the first set of batteries from the factory lasts longer than any other battery installed for the rest of the lede of the truck. Ford ships all of their trucks with 750cca batteries instead of 850's. In my truck i use 750cca AGM batteries. Again the glass mat in between the plates makes them more durable to vibration, freezing etc. and they last longer. I have noticed first hand seeing thousands of batteries a year inside the trucks i work on.

Just for information purposes:

The automotive, truck, and marine batteries are made by Johnson Controls which makes 65% of the automotive, truck, and marine batteries sold in the USA. Johnson Controls also makes the batteries for Wal-Mart and AutoZone. From Louisiana to Southern California the Interstate brand batteries are made by a Johnson Controls manufacturing plant in Monterrey, Mexico. In the other states, the batteries are made by Johnson Controls in the United States.
