:dunno:I want to get an exhaust system for my truck but dont know what one is the best and will give me the best over all gains. I was thinking a sright pipe system maybe with a aero muffler. I took my cat and muffler off just to see what the sound will be like. Everything from the downpipe back was taken off will a system sound the same or better. Please let me know what your thinking on this.....

YouTube - 6.0 powerstroke no muffler or cat ..... awsome

I just had a 4" turbo back Diamond Eye exhaust with muffler, and love it. It has a nice deep rumble and plenty turbo whine. best part is you can get the whole 409SS kit for around $280.00

call Vivian at Quick tricks and she will help you out.

That was my truck with no exhaust system at all just the down pipe... But i was thinking if a stright pipe just is one pipe from front to back would just the down pipe be the same. Is the back presure and issue or does it not matter on a PSD..... I posted the video as a reference i dont want a stright pipe to sound like that... Please your help is needed thanks

I have a 4' MBRP turbo back straight piped and i love it. It has a loud turbo whistle at idle and low RPMs but once i get past about 2500 rpms it growls real nice.

Generally most guys go with 4". 5" isn't necessary till your making over 500hp. There are no back pressure issues, the turbo provides plenty of that. So first decision is cat or turbo back. I'd recommend turbo back, they lower EGTs better. If you go turbo back then you will have to decide on a down pipe size. Some 4" kits come with a 3.5" down pipe vs a true 4" down pipe. Then you can pick if you'd like the cat and muffler in or out. If you can get away without them delete them. Diamond Eye and MBRP I know offer true 4" kits. Hope that Helps!

i must have looked at the wrong one. I have the 409ss one. and really like the way it sounds. and Vivian is top notch customer service wise. The Diamond Eye is 4" from the turbo to the bumper

the only thing i will say is Diamond eve leave some extra pipe at the end so you can cut it off straight or cut it back for a tip.

Is that mbrp kit the off road kit so you dont need to use a catalytic converter? I dont have smog testing so i dont need one and want a kit that i dont need to modify.

Also curious as to what the original poster ended up getting and if you like it or not.

I just installed that same kit this morning. No cat, no muff, no tip just a 3.5" down pipe to 4" straight all the way back no obstructions. went in really easy 2 hours total and sounds really good!

I literally just did this too! I bought the MBRP 4 inch from ebay for $239(ish) then went to my local shop and had them add a 'resonator' (30 inch long tube muffler) from Magnaflow. I LOVE IT.

The cab is quiet but the sound outside reminds me of a turbine.
