Our new to us 03 E450 is blowing A/C only out the defrost. My research on the subject reveals that it’s usually a lack of vacuum issue. I know that the diesels use a electric vacuum pump, and on the F series trucks it’s right behind the battery. Obviously not the case on the van chassis. Can anybody tell me me where to find it on the E series? A search here didn’t give me any info.

It looks like the vacuum pump is driven off of the belt and is located right below the A/C compressor. Also, I'd like to mention that there are other possible causes for your issue, such as damaged vacuum lines or issues with the vacuum reservoir. Good luck!
