tranny drain nut for plug spins!

So I noticed my tranny is leaking some fluid right around the drain plug. I went to tighten the bolt, and the nut spins :/

I tried searching for my problem, but I haven't came across one thread thats related to my problem so I'm posting! I will need to change my fluid soon, and I might just order a John Wood valve body, so when I have the pan off does the nut just need welded back to the pan? Or how exactly is that "fastened" to the pan? Or do I just need to order a new pan?

Trying to get all my ducks in a row so I have everything ready when that pan comes off.

I take it the pan needs welded on the inside? I like that pan, but that sure does drive the price up when I need to drain the fluid and replace. I don't tow but a few times a year, so I dint really need a bigger pan with more fluid. It says it increases the fluid capacity by 8 more quarts? More dinero when it's time for drain and replace fluid lol.

bigger pan isnt needed. just a better cooler. you can install a thermostat in the line to help it reach temp when its cold.

always good to mention first time i read it i was like WTF that could have been me

i don't have a hard time cleaning parts without using brake cleaner and the chances of you welding over a drop of un evaporated cleaner is very low
but chance is a little higher on a press fit thread insert like you have here beacose the fluid can get trapped

The seriousness of this cannot be overstated...

There are guys who did things like wash-down a floor pan and the slid under with a Flux Mig and didn't realize there was some Brake Cleaner in the lap joint. The guy I'm thinking of found himself in the Hospital because of it, permanently disabled, having lost 80% of his lung capacity along with neurological damage that will keep him from Ever living a "normal" life again.

Welding with Anything Chlorinated can produce Phosgene Gas (you know like from WW-I) and is nothing to take chances with. In my State Chlorinated Cleaners are no longer sold, I Still wouldn't use any BK just "in case". Acetone, Mineral Spirits, I'm even am I big fan of Starting Fluid because it dries so fast. ANYTHING but BK when it has ANYTHING to do with Welding...

The good news is that the "Chlorinated" part of the solvent isn't really doing all that much for you, I spray dozens of cans of non-chlorinated every year and don't think I've noticed any big difference ;)
