Has anyone upgraded to Sync 3? Seems like there are a few options (and a few price differences) with some of the kits you can buy online. I am just curious if anyone has performed this mod and what kit they went with. Was it a hassle to change out? Thanks!

I bought a unit from this guy Items for sale by simplymichigan | eBay it was super easy to install. He programmed it to match my truck's features. You buy the unit and a hub/cable kit. All in $830 but you can get one for less if you don't want navigation.

Hands down the best upgrade I've made on my super duty was upgrading from Sync 2 to Sync 3. I bought mine through Stance Tuning USA on amazon. $799. As before mentioned, they take your vin and program the new system to work with your vehicle. Works flawlessly and it is leaps and bounds better than sync 2. I too prefer navigation from my phone over the sync nav, but it has come in handy in some remote places where my phone loses its signal. Surprising, the updated sync 3 actually had some of the back country roads I was on. Do yourself a favor and use forscan to make some tweaks to the sync 3 unit as well. I, for one, removed satellite radio from my input options because I never use it. There are other tweaks you can make as well. Definitely a worth while investment.

I would love to upgrade from Sync 2 to Sync 3 but still cannot justify the cost. Curious if anyone has gone this route and what your experience has been?

7'' Touch Screen Wireless Appl Carplay and Android Auto for Car Radio Stereo,Appl Carplay with Support Mirror Link, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS Navigation,FM, Music, Video Hiienaa 7'' Touch Screen

Not sure why it’s showing up that way but the link works.

I am familiar with the Sync 3 system as that is what was in my F150. The main difference between the two other than the responsiveness to the touch screen is the addition of Apple Car Play. This unit seems to give that ability but unsure of its integration or how well these work. Hoping someone has experience with one and pros and cons.

I swapped my screen and APIM from a 2020 f250. It was an easy install and I love having apple car play. I ordered everything from a guy on facebook.

First post on here, but I just did this swap on my 2016 Lariat. I got mine from a company called simply Michigan. I was looking to buy from Amazon but the ones I had seen were coming from China and had spotty reviews. This is a US business that builds the kits themselves. Just installed it Tuesday and I'm very happy with it! Went from a 2022 F150 to a 2016 F250 and I missed Apple carplay badly. Not sure if its the same with all of the kits, but my backup camera is clearer and bluetooth calls sound MUCH better!

I have done the upgrade from sync 2 to sync 3 I installed it about a year and half ago. It worked as advertise a ton better than the sync 2. Apple CarPlay worked Waze works no real complaints. Like I said as advertised. But eventually you outgrow it like anything else. So I currently have the alpine iLX-F511 installed. Night and day difference.

Can you post a Pic of your install. Having trouble finding a picture showing how the 11" setup looks in the 11-16 top tier dash.

I just did the Sync 3 upgrade in my 15 Lariat. I liked that it is the same as my 23 Mustang GT so I am used to at least 2 screens out of the 5 cars, but the addition of android auto allows each car to feel the same when driving.
