it is your i.p.r. sensor more than likely

 

are we talking base oil pressure or high pressure oil, did the gauge inside drop

 

does this really matter for the reason of the truck quite running that says that it would be high pressure due to the fact that the truck runs on high pressure. i just had a truck in the shop for this same problem turned out to be the i.p.r. sensor on the back of the engine under the turbo.

 

he said the check gauges light came on, so my question is if he lost base pressure then yes it would shut off cause it couldnt feed the reservoir ,not likely with a 6.0 but i have seen trash in the regulator cause a no start or shut off concern , and in your situation with the ipr problem after a oil cooler repair i have seen that a few times myself

 

Yes it matters. You won't get high pressure if you don't have base. If you crank the truck for a bit you should be able to get pressure on the gauge. If you can't get pressure on the gauge (base oil) then you're looking at oil pump, pickup tube or some other internal engine issue.

yes, not common in the 6.0 but plausable i guess. about the screens that is just retarted of ford to put those there but not give those new screens in the oil cooler kit. to prevent the loss of the ipr. i have found that when the regulators get clogged or short out the truck runs ****ty for a bit before it quites running.

 

i do agree that it isnt common but ive seen it about 3 times , and i do agree that ford should include the screen in the oil cooler kit , should be mandatory

 

depending on what year this truck is would make a big difference on what my opinion would be on the issue , 03 and 04 , pump and ipr maybe , 05 up , several things , ipr , icp sensor even , or leak under the valve cover

 

I don't know how common it is on a 6.0 but the OPs description sounded like there might be a base oil issue, you need to have base oil and the initial test is easy it should be the first thing to test.

the oill gauge was at 0 and the engine ran for about 10 seconds after the first miss and me looking at the check gauges notice and then the oil pressure gauge. I assume it lost the low pressure side first and failed to fill the hpor. the truck is an 04 f250

That's not good. I assume that there wasn't a big puddle under the truck or you would have mentioned that. I'm also assuming that there is in fact oil in the engine. I don't have enough experience with the 6.0 to say for sure but I can't think of anything that would cause that big of a leak internally that won't require tearing into the engine to find. What do you think Scuffy?

 

well first thing i would do is remove oil filter and cap, have someone spin the engine over and see if it fills the oil filter reservoir back up , start there
