OK, I just got my SCT X3 and my computer will not recognize the tuner when I plug it in, it says that it is an invalid tuner. I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled it and still no luck. I have tried to manually install the drivers and the computer either says it has the most up to date drivers or there is an error installing the drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I need to get my truck back on the road.

One other question, can I still drive my truck if the tuner wont work since I did the EGR delete? I know it will throw a code but will it still be drivable?
it is a 2005 F250.

Thanks

try this:

If you get a failed to load bulk data or failed to write data or not a valid SCT device message, you will need to follow these steps:
If a Tuner was plugged in before the software was installed it may be necessary to install the drivers manually. A sign of this is if you see Errors coming up when trying to use the functions of the X3/Livewire Updater. “Failed to Write Data” "Connect Livewire" or others.

To Check this out, have the tuner plugged in.

Click on Start/
Then Right Click on My Computer/
Then Hit Properties/
When the System Properties Window Opens Up Click on the Hardware Tab/
Then Click on the Device Manager Button.

Within the Device Manager list, we are looking for an item with a Yellow Exclamation Mark. It may say LIVEWIRE, UPGRADE LOADER, UNKNOWN DEVICE or others.

Right click on the item that has the Yellow Mark on it, and then click on Update Driver.

This will open the FOUND NEW HARDWARE WIZARD. Let it search automatically and install the drivers.

NOTE: This will only work if the software has been installed.

Actually, I got the device to work, but now when I go to downloaad the stock strategy to send to Matt for a custom tune it says there isnt a stock file on my device.

I plugged it in and then went to check engine, then vehicle info/data, then turned on the key and saw the VIn come up, then I hit select again asnd it took me to the main menue. Shouldnt that have put the stock strategy on the sct? Or am I missing a step?

the file says that it is 0 bytes and there is no file on the device, but there iss a file that is on my desktop that is 0 bytes and called stock.lbu

there will not be a stock file in the unit, Matt needs the trucks strategy.

How to retrieve your Computer code/Strategy

1. Connect SCT to OBDII connector under the dash below the steering wheel.
2. Go to the Vehicle Information Menu
3. Select third option down - Read Strategy
4. Get the alphanumeric codes and email back to us
5. Include any modifications done to the truck including.
- SCT Strategy Number
- SCT Serial Number (found on the back of the device)
- SCT Brand: Live-Wire / X3

thank you very much for your help, I thought there was some strategy that I had to download from the truck and send to get the tune.
