Can I remove these? I would assume Ford would not drill holes only in the XLT doors for these moldings (and not the Limited since they do not have the moldings).

I have the limited, and they are all on with two sided tape. Give us pics before, during and after. I've been contemplating doing the same thing, but just cause the trim could be mounted better.

here it is.....

I took a picture of the Ford part number for the rear black molded plastic pieces that snap into the holes. The whole project took about 3 hours including bathing the truck. You can use stout fishing line to get the corner of the panel broke loose enough to grab with your fingers.

Did you just do the rear quarters, or the whole truck? Can I see a full view pic? I wanna see how much is involved in taking all of the body moldings off, and leaving it like that. And what if any moldings would be required for teh rest of them.

I view those moldings the same way as those avalanche trucks, just something to catch dirt and cause excessive wear to start rusting early.

Edit: I guess not all of the pictures loaded the first time. Guess thats what I get for being in east gish with a slow connection. Looks good. Gonna have to see if the wife will let me do that to ours. I'm undecided.

How much for that rear molding? I'm hoping I'd be as lucky as you and not find any unsightly wear marks underneath. What did you use to get the adhesive off of the body?

I have white and gold two-tone and I hate it. But for $20 and 20k,on a 7.3, I couldn't pass it up.... My moding goes aound the wheel wells and all. I don't care if they are there, but I would like them to be white also and change the running boards and bumbers to black. I love a white vehicle with black trim.

I am partial to my lower panels but I don't have two-tone either.

I am thinking of removing the chrome strip. What do you guys think?

Hey Sarasota, Man I cant find this trim part anywhere that you put on to trim out behind the rear wheel. I yook the part number you have on the site and it seems to be something that goes between the bumper and the body? Do you have a link to this part? Ive stripped mine as well and the holes showing is killing me. Thanks.

I like this... I'm gonna try to talk the better half into doing this to ours... I don't like the moulding eather, and it would look so clean with out it...

The rear trim piece are on the XLT's, but honestly if I were to do it over, I'd fill em in with metal, fiberglass filler to bring it close, and the use body filler/bondo to smooth it out.

IMHO if your gonna leave it level/small lift, fill it in, and get mud flaps. If your gonna lift it, with the biggest tires you can, use the trim. The trim actually goes down and around the bottom of the rear quarter, so it has some protection, and not just for looks. But the mud flaps give the same protection. Flaps wouldn't look right on a lifted truck.

BTW, ANYONE with this trim should look into this. Your doors are rotting before your eye's, and you can't see it. Look in his pics for how much dirt is held in there. Feel the edge of your doors along the bottom of the trim, if it's rough at all, she's rotting under it. I didn't save my doors, I'm going to have to replace them at some point.

Simply amazing someone at ford thought this was a good idea.
