I have a 1997 Ford F350 powerstroke.
I have searched the topics but cannot find anything covering this.
My turbo went out and I had no power. Ordered a new turbo. I have searched on removing the old turbo. The problem is - the 4 bolts that hold the turbo on will not break loose. I have used high pressure air ratchets, long breaker extensions and they just will not loosen. I am wondering if heat can be used on this area?
Also, the bolts on the side of the turbo that bolt to the turbo and then to the exhaust are not the size they are supposed to be. They are either rusted and eroded, or someone replaced them. Can heat be used in this area also?
The pedestal is loose, but I worked on the other bolts mentioned for 2 hours, and nothing is loose.
I sprayed everything several times with penetrating oil.
I was considering taking things loose at the next level down. but the bolts are harder to get to and will probably be in the same condition.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
