Recently I had a long start when cold issue. Took it in and discovered an STC fitting issue. I have a 2005 F250 6.0 diesel. It's been studded, EGR delete, blue spring upgrade, coolant filter, updated dummy plugs and stand pipes, MBRP turbo back 4" exhaust with the MBRP muffler. I run a tow tune and this truck mostly just tows the RV, roughly 14k pounds. I asked the mechanic to take the turbo apart to check it as I have had occasional issues that made me think it was sticking. Mechanic says it was pitted and rusty and should be replaced. I've always hated the little bit of turbo lag I get, especially since I tow. I'm considering replacing the turbo with a Powermax stage 1. I'm told by this particular, very popular vendor of aftermarket diesel performance parts, that the Powermax already comes with the Wicked wheel in it. I don't really want a loud whistle (since I am in RV parks frequently) but would love an increased performance of an upgraded turbo, especially if it helps towing performance and may cut down on turbo lag. So, I'm asking for opinions on the performance of this Powermax turbo and the whistle. Is it worth the almost double price for the performance? And does it have a really loud whistle? Appreciate your input.
