Power slide rear window

I just ordered an '11 F250 Supercab. I asked my dealer to get and install a manual rear slider window when it came in. He called around, and the manual slide rear window is more expensive than the factory power slider, not even figuring in installation. I looked at about 3 internet places and confirmed this. So, who has a power slide rear, what do you think of it, and if you have had one for a while, is it as durable as a regular power window?? Thanks, Pete

I have the power slider in my truck...hardest thing about it is trying to remember which way is open/shut for the control.

Had the truck for almost a whole 3 weeks now...so far so good...having opened/closed it less than 10 times. It is probably as reliable as your power windows and gets used less.

No problem with mine yet. Had the truck 4 months. It is hard to remember which way to push the button though.

Manual slider cost

Yeah, I wondered how a manual slider could cost more than a factory power slide. I did an internet search, and selected 3 (admittedly not many ) random sites, input '11 F250 Supercab, and the cheapest manual slider I found was $265, possibly plus freight, and the instalation job. Eastern Montana doesn't have a lot of shops, so my info was all internet. The factory powerslide MSRP is $250. Even with my phobia of electric things, I had them add the powerslide. I forgot to put in when I posted first time, the only way you can get a manual slider factory installed is with the regular cab, manual slide not available with the Super or Crew cabs, powerslide only with them. so the manual slide would have to have been aftermarket. My neighbor just got a Supercab gasser they ordered, it has most of the things I ordered, including the slider. Looks good. Pete

As a Builder, I'm always sliding a long board through my back window.

On my 2011, It has worked flawlessly.

On my 2006, It worked great for about 100,000 miles and then it started to stick. I lucked the cable assemblies and got it working again. I think that will be your only concern. It you break a cable, it's about as expensive as replacing the whole window ( maybe that is what they do)

Once a year, clean out everything behind the seat and lub the assemblies

Not sure about the rear slider but on my 01 the drivers window would get stuck about half way down from time to time. I sprayed some silicone lube in the track all the way around the window and it worked like new for a couple of years before I had to do it again. Might work for your rear slider.

Power slider, always thought Id want one. I never open my rear window, but thats because i dont think about it, or dont want the hassle of getting back in the back to close it.

Wonder how hard it is to have one installed.....seems cool. is the window the same sixze as a non slide one in the 99-07 models? or is it smaller, like in a tundra?

On both my Tahoe and Sierra I could not drive with the rear windows open without the vent visors.

They are next on the list for the current truck.

Kind of wish there was enough room on the roof to add the sunroof visor.

gotta go with the power slide over the manual - when it's time to chuck an empty beer can into the bed reaching back to open the window manually is a pain in the arse.

Helpfull Hint: just throw cans - missed the opening with a bud bottle once and it got awful expensive...

BCM or fuse.
Check fuses first. I know the bcm will shut down circuits to the interior if it detects a short or if you added lights or like power or lighted steps to the side. usually a dealer can reset it. but if it happens a number of time the bcm will permanently lock out the circuits and ull have to replace the BCM deff wanna find the short or thing added that's tripping it off.

the thing i like best about the power slider is how easy it is to get heat out of the truck after its been sitting in the sun all day. drop the front windows and open the back glass and take off, or crank it up and leave all windows shut except the power slider and turn the AC on full blast........ blows the heat right out of there in no time
