Well like the title says I'm thinking of converting my 95 to superduty bolt pattern and I was wondering if anybody has an ons with stock superduty wheels, thanks in advance.

Lots of people do. But why all the work for just different wheels?

Which on these heavy trucks, I'd be very reluctant to tell you thats "ok" or "safe", as I've heard of many problems with wheel adapters failing and tires going for a ride.

Maybe.. but I've heard of lots of stories of them breaking off and trucks losing control using spacers/adapters.

I haven't heard of a quality adapter breaking or falling apart. If installed properly they should be just fine.

You could get them machined and use an insert on the lug holes...but that's going to cost more then a new aftermarket wheel that fits correctly.

If ure getting wheel adaptors call cary ar CT performance inc. As for them being safe they are stronger the the aluminum ure boting to them, speaking of the rims themselves. As for them being safe..... if u tow heavy and a lot i would steer away from them but if not then i wont lean u either way.

As for failures, most of the time they are with spacers and not adaptors. When spacers are used that dont give u new studs to bolt the rims too and simply space the wheel out on the exsisting studs are the ones that usually fail. They put way too much stress on the studs. Make sure u get hubcentric adaptors also as thats what u need for SD wheels.

As requested.... check out my sig for OBS truck with stock SD 18s on 35s.

^Exactly who I had in mind for the super duty wheels hehe. Dont you have the whole axle though?

#10 ·
Has both whole axles, as does Garrett, few guys on here just swap to sd axles, if you have an f250 that would be an even better route

Yes I have an f250 and I have no reason to put a solid axle under my truck I have used the 4x4 twice in a year and once was just to see of it worked, the reason why I want the superduty wheel is because I like to keep it ford and they make some great looking wheels for the superduty trucks, I did a 5 lug conversion on my 79 mustang and run stock 97 gt wheels on it and it looks great.

if you have a f250 you have a reason to do a solid axle swap... that TTB will do nothing but give you issues and eat your tires. not saying it doesnt work fine, but for alighnment issues you cannot beat the solid axle. too much weight on 2 center pivit bushings.

and yes i swapped both SD axles in my truck. as did Garrett (weareweird69) and Larry(lwilson)... all of us will tell you its a lot of work but totally worth evey penny

^I agree with that.. I'm not about to waste my time for a solid axle when I can buy a few other things for the same price. Just keep the tires rotated and you'll be fine.
