my 2002 california 7.3 through a P0475 when I started it after being parked and ignored a couple weeks :-/

it seemed to run just fine, but I only went down and back up the mile hill I live on twice, once down and up with my trailer, and again down and up without it.

I gather this error is something about an Exhaust Backpressure Regulator aka Exhaust Pressure Release Valve, and that valve is somewhere on the turbo pillar. It was too hot under the hood to investigate so its cooling off now. While I've had some rodent wiring damage in the past, I didn't see any fresh signs (no piles of branches or acorns or poops.)

I got a better look into the center valley last night, appears a rodent DID start a nest down there, made from shredded hood insulation, and I see at least one chomped wire. :-/ previous vehicle rodent intrusions have been wood rats, who make a big messy nest out of branches and brush, so this must have been field mice or something.

Wiring is a definite possibility, here's what I have on a 0475;
"P0475 Exhaust pressure control valve malfunction Open/grounded ckt., solenoid open/shorted"
yup, thats pretty much what ForScan Lite says too...
