ive read all the posts about wether or not to use a gasket when replacing the oil pan some say yes some say no use the rtv....my question is what did ford use when they put the truck together i have a 2002 f250 7.3 with 186kmiles and i ask this becase if ford used an rtv to seal the pan and ive got 186k out of this truck before the pan rotted im more inclined to follow oem than personal preference and i know just changing it to begin with not to mention my truck is 20 years old and was a salt spreader for a short time before i got it so its a bit rusty underneath and ive had it for 5 years now with no real problems other than the exhaust was broken for 4 of those years and the turbo wasnt working as a result but thats been fixed and im not pulling the engine becase thats gonna open a can of nightmares with stuff breaking especially the wiring im not wanting to replace anything but the pan as i cant afford to fix it so with that being said in gonna un bolt the motor and tranny mounts and jack the motor up high enough to get the pan out thats easier than anything's else i just want to know whats under there before i do it so they truck isnt exposed to the elements for days waiting on a gasket i had to order last minute so did ford use sealer or a gasket? thanks in advance

I prefer to put the engine upside down on a stand and use Motorcraft TA-31. I like to reseal the oil cooler at the same time.
