Hello all, new to the diesel world so thought I’d get some info and run some things past you guys.
I recently picked up a new to me 2020 F250 lariat 6.7 60000 miles 4x4 lifted on 37’s. Since I don’t necessarily know how well it was maintained and due to it not being under warranty, I want to make sure it’s in good shape.

Ordered all new fuel filters all oem since they seem to be the best. Since it’s out of warranty I did go ahead and buy the s&s disaster prevention kit for some peace of mind for the “cp4”. I understand to change them every other oil change and empty your water fuel separator about once a month. As well as run a fuel additive and try to steer clear from low sulfur diesel.

Next oil change I will do the oil and filter as well as tranny fluid. What else should I look for or what should be done at 60k miles.

Also realized my driver door won’t lock or unlock with the key fob or the buttons on the inside should I replace the actuator but I read somewhere that you have to reprogram the BCM. Not sure if FORScan would work for this but that would definitely fix my tire pressure light.
Any help or advice would be appreciated on maintenance or in general for a new diesel owner.

Nice truck! The DPK kit is good even though you do still have the engine warranty. Also, you can't avoid low sulfur diesel, ULSD was mandated country wide over a decade ago (almost 2 decades ago here in Ca.). The only other maintenance items I might look at would be air filter, cabin air filter and maybe diff fluid.

I’m gonna be honest I didn’t realize it went that far I bought the truck used at a Hyundai dealership so does it still apply ? They obviously tried to push a bunch of random things onto me but turned them all down.

I believe you can flush it, I’ve watched a few videos on replacing the transmission pan and you can access the filter as well, similar to filling up a transfer case or diff. Wasn’t sure if people did it on their own or if it wasn’t very necessary at 60k miles.

Nice truck. You can and should do the tranny service. Did mine not too long ago. Definetly shifts smoother after that, like any vehicle does. Tranny service every 30-50k and less if towing.

How much are they charging for the DPK install? Did mine 2 weeks ago. Local diesel shop wanted 800$. Took me several hours but I like knowing that work is done right.

If you have serviceable batteries, check and fill with distilled water asap. Lately I've seen a lot of dead batteries due to neglected maintenance. Save yourself some $.

And flush the coolant. Yeah technically it's good til 100k, but I did mine at 50k and it didn't look very fresh. Took about 7gal of 50/50 and another few gal of distilled water in the flush.

Diesel engine gets 5yrs/100k mile warranty. Doesn't matter where you baught it.

If you look in the manual it says some crazy long interval for the trans fluid, like 100k or 150k. 60k is a good number considering you don't know how the truck was used. There is no dipstick in the engine bay, so the fill procedure is a little different than previous years. The fluid too.

Don't overlook the transfer case oil and brake fluid.
Coolant is 150k or 5 years. Or something like that. But if you wanted to do a drain n fill it wouldn't hurt anything.

I bought my 2021 from a Mercedes Dealership.....and they told me when i was seated signing papers that they always do a thorough inspection of any vehicle brought into them[emoji848]
I asked for all documentation and ended up with a clean car fax and a generic dealership vehicle; tire pressure, tire wear, fluid levels, brake check, etc..
Soooo.....the one thing that I did not think about and or check was the Def fluid level? Now you would think that a reputable car dealership like Mercedes would address that!?
That's on me for not checking before I left the dealership.....it was at about a 1/4 .
They also told me that they address the oil & filter once a pre owned comes in.....wrong-o!
The OP that owned it before changed the oil 4 months prior to trading it in!
I know this from the extremely brief service history from the Ford Pass App.
I ended up changing all the filters & oil .
Truck only had 27k when I bought it, but still.....
At first I thought the diesel maintenance was going to be very pricey and PITA to service, but not so if you do it yourself [emoji106]

150k for coolant? Manual says 100 or 150 for tranny? Don't believe everything you read. If you inspect and it's dirty, change it. Unless you plan on buying new every 3-5yrs then let someone else eat it.

Was actually going to do it myself feel decently confident after watching videos and stuff.

Only reason why I’m trying to figure out most of the maintenance stuff is it used to be a fleet vehicle which you could view as a good thing or a bad thing. Usually they are pretty good about oil changes and general maintenance but the people who drove it could have drove it hard. Our company is very strict about maintenance and how we drive our work trucks they have gps in them that measure speed g force for how hard we turn or brake.

On another note all the suspension and rims and tires are all brand new the dealership is a part of an off-road company that’s right next doorAnyone have any idea what brand lift this is ? Can’t seem to find it anywhere new drop brackets and pitman arm and so forth.

Sorry, it's 105k / 6 yr for coolant.
I beg to differ with you. Oil will look dirty even when it's fine. You can't just look at it. If ya pull a trailer every day in city traffic, then sure....the factory intervals are too long. Not if you drive it to and from a suburban office and tow a boat a couple times a year.
Do what you want with your truck and money. But don't lead anyone to thinking that going past 60k for a transmission service is going to destroy it. It's not 1980 anymore.

Thanks everyone. I stand corrected about not changing the transmission fluid. I'll do research on how to change the tranny fluid without the dip stick. It only has 33k miles on the new to me 2020 F250.

I should clarify...there isn't an engine bay accessible dipstick and tube like in the previous years. The 10 speed has a plug/cap a couple inches up from the pan flange with a small dipstick under it. So it is accessed from bellow. You'll find pictures and videos when you search, or you'll see it when you do it.

Maybe you didn't read what I wrote because you were so triggered by me mentioning your post.
What I alluded to was don't believe the manuals. I change my trans fluid every 50k. It's 100$ to do it myself and the shift is way smoother everytime. I do coolant at 50k too. That's all my vehicles. I didn't say it would break if you don't. I gave my opinion that you should.
If you don't care then by all means let it ride. What's a couple hundred $ every 50k mi? I'll take my smooth shifting tranny over someone's clunker anyday. There's a reason all my neighbors call dibs on my used vehicles... they are well maintained and run problem free for long periods of time.

I agree with you, all highway miles is definetly different than city and towing mileage...

Those brackets don't look bad. Yea it's not a well known brand but the design and manufacture looks decent. I've seen weaker built kits that still hold up. Looks like a 4" lift. Any tire rub? What steering stabilizer?

the trans takes a lot of oil to flush i dont recommend it especially since fluid isn't cheap and its been hard to get in some places. i would buy a new pan with a drain plug, drain it and swap the filter that will be now have caught any metal from the initial break in and then just drain and refill at whatever interval you want. the manual for mine says 150k mile service for the trans but i drain and refill it every 50 since a drain refill only does half the fluid. rock auto has cheap filters i have been running the wix premiums.
