So I have always ran the motorcraft 15w40 oil due to its high contentration of boron. Around 357 ppm. I see boron as a big advantage to HEUI systems in the 6.0. I change it EVERY 5000 miles with MC filters. I have never had any cold start problems, but have never tried a full synthetic either.

Has anyone ran the motorcraft 5w40 full synthetic?

Yes, I have.

I have noticed no difference with synthetic over the motorcraft dino oil.

My truck actually prefers the motorcraft dino oil (runs smoother.)

And it's cheaper and comes in those nifty 5 quart jugs. :thumb:

You changing at 5000 even with Dino oil like me? My idea on this is that Dino and synthetic probably shear at about the same rate in these engines, so changing a synthetic at the same intervals is probably a waste.

I run the motorcraft 5w-40 synthetic because at my cost it comes out to around the same or cheaper than valvoline extreme or rotella T6.

I've never been one to notice oils but I ran extreme blue prior to that and didn't notice the switch over, I'm sure I could tell dino vs synthetic in 10-20°F temps.

BTW the Motorcraft 5w-40 diesel oil comes in 5 qt jugs just like the 15w-40.

I do the same and it may be a waste ( I know my oil analysis say I can go much longer )
I even have a bypass filter but it's money well wasted to me LOL

an analysis is 50 bucks an SYN oil change is 100 if I shop right so I would rather change it for piece of mind than do an analysis I save those for once a year
