My truck came with an s&b intake on it and the filter is extremely dirty and I need to clean it. Couple questions- 1. How to tell if after i clean it if its the wet or dry filter 2. Can I use some left over k&n filter cleaner on it 3. If its a wet filter can I use k&n oil on it

Is the filter white or does it have a red tint to the fibers? White will be dry, the red will be oiled. I have never seen in person a S&B dry filter, but if its like most, a dry filter will be more of a "paper" type media, and an oil filter will be more of a cloth? If it is an oil filter, I would use S&B oil and cleaner. Some may say that you can use other brands oil/cleaner, but I always use the S&B on my filters.

I've used the K&N re-charge kit on serveral non-K&N filters in the past (to include AFE, S&B, Steeda, B&M and others I can't remember, on the different cars ,trucks and motorcycles I had over the years). No issues with any of them ever. I would rather use the stuff from the same company as the filter (i.e. AFE oil on my AFE filter), but the K&N stuff is locally available at any auto parts store, so I use it instead.

I like the fact that K&N has a spray bottle to oil the filter, I waste so much time with S&B's stupid syringe style oiler.... frustration argh
