ok...my truck just recently began a hissing sound...it does it ALOT when its cold...between 1500 and 2000 rpms...and it gets faster as you rev...its not constant...it does it about every revolution...it sounds like its coming from right on the other side of the firewall...almost right behind the steering wheel...however i have also found that it does it a very small amount after it warms up...but only at 1500rpms in a strain...its starting to annoy me...anyone else have this problem?!?!?!?!

for the most part it does go away...but i can still hear a very faint hiss...if i hold it at 1500rpms in a high gear....at runnin temperature...but its not constant...it just does it on every revolution...

Could also be a exhuast leak take a look at ur exhaust pipes coming down the back side of your turbo check for black smoke at all the claps... I had a hissing sound while excelatoring and it turned out to be an exhaust leak... GL hope u find the problem...

It is the EBPV. It will stop doing it when the engine gets up to temp. Mine will do it for sometimes up to a hour after it is started if it is really cold out. If you are running down the road with not much load it will kick back into it again. Brian

Joining in on this one, will it hurt to tie the valve open some how as long as you let it warmup before you drive it, and if not, then how would I go about doing so.

I had that problem of the ebp valve staying on and found the ebp sensor was chocked full of soot AND its pipe too. they are on the front of the engine the pipe starts from the front of the passenger exhaust manifold and the sensor is right near the fuel filter assy (info off a 95) . instead of buying a new one i took the pipe of and ran a pipe cleaner through it the cleaned it out with solvent and compressed air. i picked the sensor clean with a small piece of wire. instantly fixed!

Devin has it right, this should be done as part of regular maintenance on a PSD. Brake cleaner will desolve the carbon build up in the tube. I was able to clean my sensor twice before it finally gave out. If you need a new sensor go to a IH dealer way cheaper than Ferd.
