So I have done some searches but can't find many answers. I know about all the laws and that I need a tuner and such so we are good on that topic:) I picked up another DOC/DPF because I want to keep my stock set up just incase and I'm wanting to gut the spare set out so this way at least it has the visual of being there. Here is the question, after its all gutted is it cool to just hook it back up and call it done or do I need to run and weld a run through pipe in it? If so what size does it need to be? I have heard some guys say no its fine just being gutted but others say it needs a run through pipe. What are your guys thoughts.

No need for a through pipe to be inserted, it will function fine just hollowed out.

Sanman, he said he picked up another one :thumb:

If I had a 6.4 thats the way I would do it. A police officer would have to ba a pretty big d!ck to do anything if it still looks ok underneath. Shouldn't need to run a pipe through, but I believe in the downpipe thier is a major restriction (I've heard it necks down to 3"), but I'm not sure, either way you may want to look into it.

Not to hijack... well yeah actually but how does one go about gutting a dpf??? I have gutted many a catalytic converter.. what would you use?? Seems like a poormans dpf delete and also stealthy. ;)

Yup thats what I'm thinking. Have a hammer drill with big concrete bits, bigger heavy rotary hammer too just incase it needs a little more persuasion, got a respirator and face shield. Gonna try it this weekend so I'll take some pics etc.

UPS packaging will run you about $110, shipping will run you about $125. Total, $235.

Sent from my EVO using AutoGuide app.

Got them both gutted the other day, everything went good just took a little bit of time with the DPF, the DOC was a piece of cake though. It seems like this will be a good end result. I received the Mini Maxx today so I'm going to do the install of both this weekend.:woot:

Here is the insides of the DPF only

I got shipping quotes today from fed ex and ups. Not as bad as everyone thought it would be between 70 and 90 in the lower 48 depending on where. I am in 70471 zip which is south east La. Anyone needing a dpf/cat to replace or gut let me know. It is taking room in the garage. I tried to post pic but the files on my phone were too big and I don't know how to resize. I can email pics if interested. Let me know.

Well I got done installing the H&S Mini Maxx and the gutted doc/dpf and all I can say is WOW. Question, I still have the factory air box didn't even think of changing it. When I did the tranny relearn it has me make the runs on HOT setting, the last run was at 100% throttle up to 80mph and after that the gauge cluster said Check Air Filter. I reset the air filter gauge under the hood and it went off so is it because the factory air filter is too restrictive especially in HOT mode? I had an S&B in my 6.0 and thought it was very good, is it still a good one for the 6.4?

Yeah what your experiencing is the factory air intake not being able to keep up with the demand of the turbos at the higher power levels. A S&B or AFE stage II are both good choices, both well made and both do there job. I've had a bit more luck with the over all performance with the S&B though.

I'll get a video of it and post it here soon. It really isn't that much louder at all, it has the standard hairdryer noise just at the tailpipe but thats it and thats not very noticeable or at least compared to my 6.0:hehe: Inside the truck sounds the same to me:thumb:

Whats up there brother? Yup the project is coming together:thumb: You were right though its hard to keep the foot off the pedal now, its an ear to ear grin for me and people that drive in it:woot: I ordered some DDM HIDs for the lights and probably going to order an S&B filter on Friday. I'm going to try the HIDs on the low beams first and see how they work with the projectors first then get the highs and fogs.
