Soo got an interesting one. I have a 01 f250 crew cab. Ever since I got the truck, the front (middle) dome light does not work. So i took it down today and noticed that it doesn't have any plugs to it. It just has two connections that two screws go into and it is wired to the rear dome light. The rear dome light works perfectly fine. I have tested the rear one and gets .42v at the screws and 12v at the prongs for the bulb. I then tested the connectors from the front dome light and are getting the same .42v but when i screw the dome down to it, the prongs that the bulb goes into does not get any power. I leaning towards maybe a bad housing, but not 100% sure yet.

I haven't looked lately, but are the two housings the same? My thinking is that if they are the same, can you move the back one to the front to see if it works (still) and the front one (does or doesn't) work in the back? May confirm your diagnosis.

So after thinking about it for a while I came to the conclusion that it has to be the screw that just grounds to the frame. So I took the back one and put a wire under the screw and ran it to the front to test. As soon as I touched the wire to the front ground screw it worked. So I'm guessing it's some kind of bad grounding and now just have to figure out how to change it.
