FORScan / cylinder contribution

I have the full-fledged version of FORScan and a good USB connector but find the interface and documentation a bit confusing. Can FORScan be used to check cylinder contribution? I have (I believe) some injectors starting to have trouble in cold - cold weather starts. 50° day starts are no problem, but below 35° runs super rough for the first 30 seconds. Wasn't all that noticable last year but apparently it's not self repairing itself liked I hoped and is worse.

I can' do the click test but would like to see contribution or other good indicators before I go but injectors.

Also it seems like it would rack up misfires on the cylinders but I've never had any of the misfire counters show anything in FORScan or in torque pro

Agree with above - my truck did the same on cold starts - ran hot shot secrets and problem gone in around 800 miles and has been good since

IMO...for <$50, it doesn't hurt one bit to try some Archoil, HSS, or RevX for 1k miles or so. If you find the additive doesn't work, you can T/S more knowing you're dealing with something beyond stiction.

Ok thanks guys. Yeah I'll do the additive and see if it helps. Would be nice to see a contribution test some day but I doubt I'll come across an IDS.

Sort of related - I notice I NEVER see misfire counts in Torque - is that a real metric? Note that although it's been a long time since my last erase, I still see "misfire - incomplete". To my knowledge, I have never seen a misfire reported in 2 years. Do diesels even do that since they have no spark plugs? Mine certainly sounds like it's misfiring when it's cold and that injector is acting up.

The sticktion eliminators will work for a year, two, or so. But from my experience, you'll end up with an injector.

I use hot shot secrets and their maintenance recommendations (i.e. Regular addition smaller quantity) plus fuel side additives (Stanadyne Performance every fill per their recommendations) and since first issue have not had a problem. Currently on my third 6.0 with total miles between all three at 250,000 (to be honest newest could be ignored as it is like 40k).

Only time I have had injector failure was when a HPOP failed towing on 8% grade.

But I'm definitely not a mechanic - shade tree at best.

After about 30 months I ended up replacing the injector. I know of one other who had a similar situation, but if other people have a better experience, the two of us might be outliers. I'm joust going by the two examples.

Time will tell - I could end up proving you correct. Been over 3 years since my issue but not a ton of miles on the truck in that time - approximately 50k.

I do hope you and anyone else do better. I was pumped up when it helped, and I still have some sitting on my shelf. I still tell people to try it.

I'm a firm believer in regular/preventative/predictive maintenance (the line of work I am in has pounded that into my way of operating). I deal the same way now with all things I own. I spend countless hours - what is the best way to make it last and do my best to follow the practices I find and carefully filter what I find (you have helped in my searches and knowledge base concerning the 6.0 as well as others). By no means am I a genius and don't profess to be one, but so far my xp with the 6.0 has been relatively problem free (all things mechanical will fail and have had a few of them [emoji106]). My protocol has been maintain, apply preventative measures, and don't abuse and it will stand the test of time [emoji1696][emoji1696][emoji1696], and avoid that Murphy character.
