Oil or fuel?

 

I hope oil, because I need to find one that will just fit the filter :hehe:

 

Go to a farm store, they sell them there. I just bought one over the weekend. It was like $4.25, and it's made by Pennzoil. You'll want the 4-4 3/8" size, a FL-1995 filter is 4.25".

I got one from NAPA that's pretty nice, has a joint in it so you can use it at any angle, nice rubber handle, and all steel. :thumb:

I use this one -

2" to 4-1/4" Oil Filter Wrench

it works but puts small bite marks in it when you clamp it on the filter. I normally don't use a wrench to put the filter on, just use it to take it off so it doesn't bother me much and it's cheap-o.

I should clarify... I meant "joint" not "U-Joint." sorry. :doh:

It is pretty nice tho.... but it's made in china. The only one they had that was USA was a strap wrench, and apparently it was made with a gold handle because they wanted $60 for it. :tard:

 

I like the farm store idea...and the pliers look pretty good too.
I have had my fill of the constricting band style with the swivel handle.
Not afraid to pay the price (within reason of course) for a good tool that makes the job easier, and I can't break!

 

I use one of these for my oil filter, but most of the time I can spin it off with my hands, no stabbing needed except to drain it.

 

We have the Harbor Freight pliers also. They work great for removing. Can't use them to install, which is why I got the farm store band wrench type. My oil filter is leaking from the top, so I wanted to tighten it up some.

 

I had already punched a hole in the bottom of my filter to drain it...then tore up the filter wrench. I ended up using a pair of vise grips to hold on to the wrench, and was barely able to get the old one off.
So, I have 5k miles to choose a better one!

 

I use k&n oil filters. They take a 1" socket on the bottom. It's great. A rubber glove to keep the hands clean gives u great grip to put the filter on and get tight enough.

I have one of those plastic with a rubber band wrenches I use. Works well so far and I dont remember spending that much on it. Got it at autozone.
