Do any of you have experience with doorman manifolds. ?

Thanks.

Tap the hole and put a pipe plug in

Why take it off ? -- cant get a good angle to tap the hole ?

Hook a shop vac on the tail pipe -- set to blow -- and tap away, the debris will blow out as you tap / drill

That looks rust-belt rusty.

There are a couple of vendors on eBay from Canada that sell good salvaged 6.0L parts. That might be easier than getting one from a yard and in selected good shape if you can get all the manifold bolts out easily.

You could even get rambunctious and get both sides.

Oh yes rusty belty for shure the lovely province of Quebec where salt and pot hols rules the roadways.

Doing both side was the plan once the truck is the the garage for winter.

Thanks for the links will check them out.

I agree once you touch that thinned out area the problem will just continue
a new or used manifold unless it is a stainless manifold I would look into a good hi temp paint for the replacements
that said I live in a desert so rust is not my area of expertise lol
We refer to it as "Oregon Loctite" but don't have it NEAR as bad as the rust belt does!! Here it's more of a surface thing, not a deep penetrating locking mechanism! :D

It seems worse than keeping it in salt water.

If you plan on keeping truck I WOULD NOT do Dorman. Haven't tried them on a diesel but on gas motors we have had to go back and replace them for a second time on a few Fords and Chevy's. because they split/cracked. The cast is a different composition or something because they just split and you can take a hammer at that point and break off pieces somewhat easily. Only plus side is they are lifetime warranty LOL. These were mostly on gas plow and dump trucks so I understand the exhaust runs hotter especially with the way they are treated. The diesel may not have same problems since it should run cooler but Dorman parts in general have left a bad aftertaste with us. Good used ford and have a machine shop mill it flat is my preference.

Seasoned manifolds. The internal casting stress has been relieved during service.

Be sure to use some anti seize on the manifold bolts upon reassembly...

When i was tracking down the leak before i knew the hole existed i was able to back out both bolts on each runners on cyl 3 5 7 i took em ou and coated them with anti seize and torque em back to specs only one i did not touch is cyl 1.

The only bolts i think will give me some challenge is the up pipe.
