Edge CTS 3 , not all that ;-(

Anyone have the Edge cts 3 and have issues ? Bought one Jan 2021 has been a major let down , my cts was fine when I thought I would like a bigger screen

this unit freezes and can't clear codes on a running truck ( probably an EPA thing) and now with the latest update it won't boot right without telling me the truck rejected PIDs but then finally starts up
before this update occasionally the unit would just scramble itself and need a restart ,, as a matter of fact I wish this had a reset button on the dash because I hate pulling the unit to unplug the HDMI cable

anyway just seeing if anyone else is having issues ,, I bought mine from a vendor on here, and it has a born on date of 2017, I will ask Edge Tuesday if it was old stock or if thats what they all have
and I will post back on how this phone call goes but reports are it won't be fun

Looking at the review comments, you’re not alone :(
Others are saying released before bugs worked out...

i did see the facebook page but heck this was out for a long time before I finally bought it

however I guess Holley owns Edge now and Holley is a crap company they let their full paying unsuspecting customers do their beta testing .. ask any Holley Sniper fuel injection owner how that feels

constant issues out of mine as well, never a single issue out of my old green screen insight. should have kept that one

Nothing really to report from my CTS3, mine tends to act like I have touched the screen. Could just be it's detecting dirt/dust on the screen??

How did you see the "born" date of 2017?? I got mine in April 2020.....pretty sure they were not released much earlier....definitely not 2017.

At worst it seems as maybe the updates are the issue more than the unit. Guess who isn't going to update the CTS3 anytime soon...

this list of issues with mine has been
acting like it was getting touched / not dirty at all
shutting off
freaking out with a weird screen display
it actually fraked out my dash once and I had to unplug it
I have screen shots and most of this is logged in the unit I think

I found the born on date in the menu section near the help/about
I can pull it up again and get more accurate description

the previous update seemed to fix the freak out but it would still shut down for no reason

Greg this is just the CTS3 insight not the programmer

The more I hear about CTS3 issues, the more i'm glad I still have my CTS2! I wanted to upgrade, but just couldn't justify it. Now i'm glad I didn't!

the born on date is under the upper drop down menu after you select the "? " question mark icon mark then it will have "device " and "tool info" mine states 2017 maybe they all say that ?

this is a 400 dollar aggravation and honestley I will think long and hard and do a lot of research before I ever buy anything from Holley it's other companies again
the Sniper fuel injection was a 2500.oo investment in making a vehicle undependable and had to send it back to Holley once but that was not the end of the issues

I just don't have the inclination to troubleshoot high dollar items anymore , tomorrow I am asking for an RMA vs dicking around on the computer and giving them access to my laptop

Well....this is news to me. Nothing resembling wide spread CTS3 issues unless you drive a Cruze. LOL
I upgraded only cause my CTS2 ghosted me with a dead screen.

Mines just fine. Considering the CTS3 came out in like 2020 I'm trying to figure out how it could have a 2017 date.
Other than maybe that's related to the software. Maybe some of the internals are "left overs" from the CTS2 but with the bigger CTS3 screen?

All this makes Torque and a mounted phone or tablet look more appealing -- I had a Samsung tablet mounted in my truck that got stolen
I would use a phone in my current truck, since there is less real estate on the dash
Currently the truck came with a LiveWire , no problems with that yet

Torque only reads, was likely the adapter -- The BAFX and ODBLink MX+ work well with the system
some of the others cause problems like you mentioned -- also some will keep the engine from starting

Interesting, I ran that on on my other truck with no problems -- currently using the MX+
Mine have both been 2006, so maybe that is the difference

Edge/holley is already suggesting it is my tunes or viper ,, ya know the stuff I have not changed since before my cts let alone cts3


they are not acknowledging any issues ,, back on hold though
seems to be a common issue today

so the hold time was not bad and I did see a blurb about extended warranty options when looking online so I inquired they said it should be an option on my updater but it was not so I paid for another year over the phone 42 bucks

they thought ithey had the CTS fixed after an update on the pc but when i was still on the phone but plugged back into the truck I cycled the key and it wouldn't boot without me touching the screen ,, the blame was headed to my truck for not supplying power to the obd but that was short lived when we talked about the fact it would boot with a touch and shut off with the key.

then they ran a data log with the paper clip push to the back of the device and a reboot ,, then they had me go to the laptop again and they pulled the file ,, I should hear back in a week

so they did try and the guy was super nice ,, he was not the CTS techy though that guy will review the log and see if i need a patch / update or other fix

so I will keep you all posted ,,, thanks for the feedback so far
