I previously posted about my 7.3 needing replaced due to bad #8 cylinder.

I have done some searching before posting this, but can't find a good detailed writeup or article.

I know that the long block powerstroke 7.3 is the same as the navistar T444E. So if I was just swapping in a new long block, there should not be any changes.

My question is if I find a good used Navistar T444E out of an international truck/bus what kind of work will have to be done to drop that in my 01 F350? Or if I find a good deal on a complete reman navistar T444E.

In my searching I have found people that say no changes are required to others saying the wiring harness, brackets for alternator ect.., power steering pump, connection to tranny, ect.. have to be changed out.

Does anyone have any good detailed information on this?

To my knowledge the bare block is the same. so as long as you switch over all your wiring and accessories to the 444 you should be fine. Of course you will probably want to use the injectors and HPOP from your bad motor as the 444 will probably have a 15* HPOP and single shot injectors where you have a 17* and split shots. Your injectors need to match your ECU so they should be swapped.

One thing you might want to check on. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but have heard that the T444E blocks had a different bellhousing bolt pattern.

Any of the experts want to confirm or refute this?

I found this at International T 444E Specifications

International T 444E
Comparing the T444E & 7.3 L Power Stroke

Power Stroke enthusiats & owners often ask the differences between the 7.3L Power Stroke & the International T 444E. The answer is rather simply; the 7.3L IS a T 444E...with suttle differences. 7.3L is the equivalent of 444 cubic inches, which is where the 444 in T 444E comes from. Information on the T 444E & its comparison to the Power Stroke can be seen below.
T 444E Specifications:
(see 7.3L specifications, T444E long block is identical).
The T 444E was available in the following power options:
Rated Horsepower Peak Horsepower Peak Torque Governed Engine Speed
175 HP 184 @ 2,200 RPM 460 @ 1,400 RPM 2,600 RPM
195 HP 195 @ 2,300 RPM 520 @ 1,400 RPM 2,600 RPM
210 HP 215 @ 2,400 RPM 540 @ 1,500 RPM 2,600 RPM
215 HP 225 @ 2,200 RPM 560 @ 1,400 RPM 2,600 RPM
230 HP 238 @ 2,300 RPM 620 @ 1,400 RPM 2,600 RPM
Differences between the 7.3L Power Stroke & T444E:
Both engines feature the same specifications; the long blocks are exactly the same between both engines. The 7.3L is simply a T444E in Power Stroke trim. Suttle changes between the 2 engines include:
Accessory drive & various engine sensors.
Turbocharger
water pump
The T444E block is painted blue
The PCM's (Powertrain control module) are different, thus the different power ratings offered between the 2 engines. For example, the T444E was offered in ratings up to 620 lb-ft torque, where as the Power Stroke was only offered with peak torque reaching 525 lb-ft. However, you may also notice that the 275 HP rating of the Power Stroke is much higher than any HP rating of the T444E.
T444E uses a mechanical fuel pump, requiring a different camshaft.
Additional T 444E Information:
The International T 444E has a B10 life of 200,000 miles & a B50 life of 350,000 miles.
The T 444E is a popular medium duty diesel application, including extended use in International buses.
Production numbers for the T 444E exceeds 750,000 thousand.
The T 444E is offered in applications up to 65,000 lb GVWR
