DRL’s on brand new Spyder Headlights Won’t Turn On

I just installed a pair of Spyder Headlights that have a distinct DRL tube that makes the truck look like a newer Superduty. But shortly after installing the headlights, I found that the DRL tubes on both headlights wouldn’t turn on. Everything else on the headlights works fine but just the DRL’s wont turn on. The only changes I’ve done to the Headlights, have been changing the h7low beam bulbs to some Hikari 9600 lm 6k Cool White bulbs. If I could get any help that’d be greatly appreciated.

No apparently it’s just plug and play, I’ve tried turning on the DRL’s from the manual

1. The ignition must be in the on position
2. headlamp control is in the off
3. The parking brake must be disengaged

I’ve tried reaching out to Spyder but all they’ve been able to say is that the side marker bulb needs to be plugged in and the parking lights need to be activated. Also to check the fuses and to make sure the bulbs are connected properly.

After watching their video, make sure the side marker connector is in the right polarity. I think that is the problem with some LED lights...if you reverse the fit they will not work at all.

Not to mention your pic is of a truck at night with the lights on....That's not DRL. DRL is a daytime feature that will be on anytime the truck is started running the headlights at a low power setting.

Oh that’s not my truck that’s an example of somebody else’s truck with the same headlights as mine. I’ve checked the fuses and they’re all good. I was thinking the same thing about the bulbs. I’m thinking of just returning them once I check the bulbs and put the ones they came with in and once I check the plugs. Because maybe this plug is reversed. (Check photo)

DRL is enabled in the BCM (forscan, ids, etc).

all the trucks have the "wiring" (its just your low beams or parking lights)

the DRLs turn off when in Park, so make sure you aren't in park. i don't remember but i think they turn off if the engine isn't running as well.

my truck didnt come factory with them but i used forscan to enable them (there's an insurance discount). Canada model all have them.

I found them on eBay, recon has some similar to these for about $800. Although, they appear to be built of the same quality. I swapped out all the bulbs. You have to make sure that the bulbs you order fit the headlight. Because I ordered a H1 Led for the high beams and they didn’t fit because the bulb housing is made for an HID. I swapped the low beams with a HIKARI Led H7 Bulb And The highbeams with a H1 SYLVANIA Silverstar ZXE.

Swapping out the bulbs is a must, because the $5 bulbs it comes with are horrible.

I have the Recon version and the white DRL bar is barely visible in daylight. You have to look hard to see if it's even turned on. I've only had them about 12 months and the clear coat is already peeling on the outside of the lens. Not worth the money they are asking for them. $300 is more like it.

I've been hearing this alot about the RECONs. I have yet to hear a bad review from anyone about the SPYDERs.

I just ordered a pair of SPYDERs and the SPYDER taillights. I have the LED Switchback Towing Mirror Turn signal/Running Light Side Marker from iJDMTOY and the :nerd: interior LED lights in my shopping cart for later.

Pretty pumped.

After having owned this pair of headlights for six months, I wouldn’t recommend buying these SPYDER/RECON headlights to any 11-16 f-250/f-350 owner. Adding LED bulbs to your stock headlights and fog lights is the way to go instead.

But if you already have bought these then I would recommend adjusting the headlights (Pain to do with these aftermarket headlights) and adding some LED bulbs to your fog lights, I have had no problem seeing at night ever since doing this. Since these headlights are made for halogen bulbs, I haven’t been able to fit any LED Bulb inside the high beam. I have used the Hikari 9600lm H7 bulb for my low beam and Sylvania H1 bulb for my high beam (Not bright but only bulb that I could find).
