Different oil used after deletes done?

Do you guys recommend using a different oil after you've done your deletes?

On my Cummins I switched over to an Amsoil Synthetic that didn't have all the specialized detergents etc that are intended for use with the DPF system. That seemed to be what most guys were doing.

How about on the old 6.7 PS?

After doing my delete I tried a few different oil brands including the amsoil but I now have been sticking to the Valvoline premium blue. The amsoil gave me the "ticking" these 6.7's are notorious for and it didn't seem to go away. Rotella t6 gave me the ticking for about 1000 miles then went away. Valvoline premium blue gave me no ticking. I'm not sure if it's the best oil out there, but I guess oil is oil as long as you are changing it on time.

I deleted at about 4k and currently I'm at ~8.5k. The computer said change the oil at about 7.5k. I am using Rotella T6 and plan to continue to use it. I'll pull a sample and send it off to Blackstone Labs when the computer tells me to change it again and go from there. I'm hoping to go 10k between oil changes with the full synthetic T6.

Off topic but i have never seen my computer say "change the oil". Does it always do this, or i'm I just changing the oil to soon. I change my every 5K no matter what. Maybe I should start sending a sample to Blackstone.
I'm on Valvoline Blue also.

I starting off using synthetic 10w30 Motorcraft oil, truck ticked for the first 500ish miles then it was fairly quiet with the odd tick here and there. Usually started ticking again near time to change the oil.

Then used Rotella T6 5w40, truck never really stopped ticking but while driving even with the windows down it wasn't really noticeable even when stopped.

Then I tried Valvoline True Blue 5w40 synthetic and wow did my truck tick like crazy, even while curising through town with the windows down at slower speeds I could hear it ticking.

Then I tried Amsoil 5w30 Series 3000 full synthetic and a blob of Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer. I don't know if it was the Amsoil or the Lucas Oil additive but when I fired up my truck, it ticked 3 times and quiet! This is the quietest my truck has ever been! I often forget my truck even has the tick! Next oil change I will try the Amsoil by itself and see if it was the oil or if it was the stabilizer. The Series 3000 is not CJ-4 emissions compliant, but with no DPF or EGR, I can use it :D

I have mobile one in mine. I just changed my oil for the first time the other day, no ticking. I have ran mobile one for some time now in trucks after rotella T6 gave me bad oil analysis on my 6.4.
I wonder if that was due to T6 itself of because of the 6.4 oil dilution issues?

Deleted my 2015 a little over 18,000 miles ago.

Rotella T5 10W30 - Do it Myself - Cheap at Walmart

No ticking (Had some with T6 on my 2013)

Change it every 5,000-6,000 miles depending on highway use and/or towing

No consumption

Why risk a $20K engine by going 10K+ miles between changes and "hoping" that an oil analysis says everything is "okay"? If it's not "okay", the damage is already done.

Speaking of extended oil changes: WHY?

Are you guys really that strapped for cash that you can't change the oil on a more frequent basis? If so, I guess you shouldn't have paid the BIG BUCKS for a Super Duty and stuck with a Datsun.

Are you guys trying to "Save the Planet" by not using so much oil? I doubt it.

Forget all those fancy-smancy oils. Use a good quality semi-synthetic oil (what Ford recommends), change it regularly (along with the filter), monitor your consumption and, if you must, have it analyzed every 2nd or 3rd change.

Just a little advice from a guy who's been servicing his own cars for longer than most of you guys have been on this earth (Yeah, I'm old.......but Wise).
