2005 6.0 (late 04 production date). First it had fuel tank delam/rust issues. Replaced fuel tank and fuel filters. Crank but won’t start, removed IPR valve, and the screen was clean. Had an extra new IPR valve laying around so I installed it. Still won’t start, I’m getting no ICP pressure and .25 volts. Oil level good, low oil pressure shows on dash gauge (halfway while cranking). FICM at 48 volts and synching. Do I have a high pressure fuel pump issue?

also worth mentioning, I did all injectors, EGR cooler, oil cooler, and turbo replacement. Truck ran good for a few months other than having to replace the fuel filters about every 500 miles. It’s a company truck, I told the boss that it needed a fuel tank but the company didn’t want to spend the money so they told me to just stock up on fuel filters instead. I’m afraid something went very wrong and all that works I did was in vain. Don’t know where to go from here.

Got it to kinda run after manually commanding the IPR valve. But runs very rough and pressures are all over the place.

Edit*
Did the bubble test but no bubbles.

you don't have a high pressure fuel pump. you have a high pressure oil pump.

post the ICP and IPR data when cranking to help us troubleshoot.
Yes sorry high pressure oil pump.
Seems to run well after putting the batteries on the charger for about an hour. I guess all that cranking killed them and then with the glow plugs cycling got the IPR all out of whack.

Sorry there’s an F bomb towards the end because I did not expect the truck to start.

That was easy! Glad it is starting now!
We’ll know tomorrow for sure when I take it for a spin. Weird thing is that it was the batteries what I checked first. They both checked out at over 100% CCA capacity. Tomorrow I’ll take a pic of what the fuel tank I removed looks like inside. Nasty stuff! I put way too much work into that truck already, but she’s a workhorse and they guys don’t treat it nicely at all.
Also another thing; it’s been getting an annoying EGR not enough flow detected code. When I did the cooler back in December, I did install a new EGR and throughly cleaned the inside of the intake manifold. Removed the EGR valve and it was quite dirty. Cleaned it up and I hope that’s it. The code came up a few days after installing the new one so I wonder if I got a dud.

Bad news. Truck seemed to be idling fine, but then I took it for a spin and it started to surge when boost started to build up. Then it went back to erratic idle and it would smooth out every now and then. I think the hpop is done.

edit

these codes popped up. CPK sensor and wiring harness is less than 6 months old. But things are now pointing towards the ICP sensor? I thought that sensor would throw a code but not make the truck run rough or am I wrong?

P2287 code is pretty self explanatory -- maybe fix that one first
P0335 could be a loose/broken connector or the insulation worn on the wires

You are clearing the old codes, correct?

Yeah I cleared all codes. So I changed the ICP sensor and now the truck runs great. So yeah, if that sensor goes bad, it will make the truck run like crap. Also buy Ford OEM parts, I did change that sensor back in December but used aftermarket part. Now it has a Ford sensor so I expect it to last. But then again, it’s a Ford with a 6.0 diesel. Lol

oh and to add, that ICP code didn’t show up until after I already changed the IPR valve and was still trying to figure out why was it still running so bad. The codes it had when it came in was CMP and CPK sensors (from long cranking) EGR not enough flow detected (new EGR valve from December. Removed and cleaned it), OBD systems not complete (always shows up when I disconnect the batteries).
