Just wondering on what I would like to do with my cat. I don't want to completely straight pipe because im in Florida and a lot of cops down here don't like that so id rather not take that chance. I recently did the EGR delete and I was told by someone that since I did that I would need to remove my cat converter. Is that an accurate statement? I know Florida/Kentucky doesn't do emissions testing but the only issue is was when I did my EGR delete, my father found out it was illegal and he completely flipped out. So back on topic, am I doing damage keeping the cat on there like the one guy told me? and if I was to delete, is there a way they can "gut" the honeycomb out and put the shell back on so my father wont find out? I don't need the extra lip lol.

It doesn't hurt anything leaving it on, it's only attached to the exhaust and has nothing connected to the EGR system. Whoever told you that was probably thinking about a DPF.

As far as being able to knock the stuff out of it, sure, plenty of people have done it.

This! No matter where you live its illegal to remove it. My truck doesn't have one but there are no ill effect to keeping it. If you have cops who are strict on the exhaust laws I would keep it. Also if you decide to get rid of it, scrap it. They bring good money lol

You can keep in on there or remove it. Your choice. You are not causing any issues to the truck. As far as the egr most likely if you took it in it would still pass emissions w/o the egr. So i would not worry about it. Funny that you dad "flipped out" i guess he needs to watch a couple of Bill's videos. Look on utube under power stroke help. Find the one on the 6.0 and egr. That should take care of that problem. I would not worry about it being straight piped. It does not get that loud. My 6.4 is straight piped and unless you have your foot hard in it you would not know. The "test" pipe for the 6.0 is very expensive so i just left mine in place. Not worth the money to me to remove it.

^I think he meant for the 6.4

Cat delete pipe for a 6.0 is anywhere from $50-$75. And yes, it's pretty loud without it. One drive with your dad and he'll know. Startup growl is much louder for a couple seconds, there's drone at rpms where there wasn't before, nice quiet rumble at cruise, idle you can't tell unless he catches the whistling out the tailpipe.

What part of FL are you in? I wouldn't worry a bit about the cops, doubtful they'd ever bother you about it.

If you want to gut it just find a t-post and use the cat as a post driver cleans them out pretty easily. Not that I would know, also seems to only make the turbo a little more noticeable. No real power or engine sound gains with otherwise stock exhaust.

does removing the cat lower EGT,s?

the cat delete pipe was pretty cheap. it was still pretty quite for having a magnaflow system. I gained 1 mpg by deleting it. I already had a cat back and wanted to be able to keep the stock cat in case they want to start emission testing here in IL. I got this one shipped to my house in 2 days. $50 something bucks link
