Gents, I’d like some feedback from those who have used the BPD kit. I’ve searched, and not much has come up - other than what looks like a stock oil cooler relocation kit.

Truck is: 2006 F250. CCSB. 95k miles. Auto. All stock. No tunes, no plans for tunes. Truck is used for hauling / towing periodically (8,000 ish #) in summer. Used a couple times a week to run into town, and general family pickup truck use. Year round summer and winter. 80/90f summer : -30’s winter.

I monitor with forscan lite. And will be installing dyno tunes fuel pressure gauge.

Any Issues/tips with instal to be aware of? Is it working well for you?

I spoke with them yesterday, I understand you need to look at the condenser for the correct bracket, and the location of the steering cooler.

As well, I see there is a difference in the oil filter location. I plan on using the kit with the original oil filter location, just to save a bit. It adds quite a bit for me to bump up to remote oil filter. As well I’ll use the all weather kit. (I’m in Canada)

Looks fairly straight forward to me, along with the H-core egr cooler at the same time.

Before I spend this kind of money, it would be nice for some feedback, or if there is something else to consider when installing? I’ll be doing the install myself, and while I can turn a wrench, I am not familiar with working on 6.0’s.

I believe @PSD POWER007 has this setup (or maybe it's the relo kit...) - maybe he'll chime in.

Thank you. I appreciate the tip.

Found a few threads on the topic, there are more if you Google BPD air to oil cooler.. (google bullet proof diesel air to oil.. didn’t work as well. ). Or BPD remote oil filter had quite a few links too.

One thing to note, looks to me like the remote oil filter option locates the new oil filter in the front wheel well, with a guard. I run rough gravel / bush / logging / mining roads and off road somewhat often, that might not be a good location for myself. But it does sound like a better option.

From what I’ve read, it looks to me like low oil temps may the biggest issue I would face in Northern Ontario, Canada. I’d have to run a winter front cover.

If anyone else has further advice, or experience with it, especially in cold weather, feel free to chime in.

A few threads for future searches of the topic…

I have this kit. It is absolutely wonderful. Running it along with the 7.3 clutch fan, oil temps NEVER get over about 205* while towing in the HOT Georgia heat. I have the filter mount that is located in the front left filter well, it’s very well protected behind the bumper and in front of the bracket the BPD provides. Being in the cold climate, you might wanna opt for the thermostat option. This is a VERY high quality and reliable set up. I chose their warm weather large cooler kit with the remote mount filter and no thermostat. As far as the installation, it’s a big one, but the instructions are excellent and has great pictures, you shouldn’t have much trouble. Just take your time and plan a full weekend. You won’t regret your purchase.
I’ll even take the toughness of the kit a step further. I had a brand new KDD stage 1 engine along with this kit installed in my 05 Excursion. Was on my way through Atlanta one rainy morning, hit a patch of water, hydroplaned into a concrete wall head on at 55 mph. Hit the wall so hard that both batteries came out and rolled about 20 yards down the road, the front of the truck was SMASHED. I bought it back from the insurance company so that I could keep my new motor. I bought another 05 Excursion and transplanted my motor AND BPD kit into it, the oil cooler, and filter survived the crash injury free. I thought for sure the cooler and filter would be damaged, but they didn’t have a scratch.

Thank you, I appreciate the real world feedback.

That’s quite the impact, glad you’re ok!

Thank you jullsplv. Appreciate the pic. Where I am, I run bush roads etc, big / sharp gravel, rocks, dirt, branches, mud, etc etc.

Plus that whole area will get soaked in oil/Woolwax for rust prevention, makes a mess to work in. Lots of the oils just wash off in the wheel wells. I think it’d turn into a mixed rusty, muddy, oily, beat up mess. Probably not where I want a filter hanging, or an area I want to take apart to service every 5k.

Changing the filter in that location is a piece of cake. But I live in the south and don’t have to deal with salt and rust either. So I understand where you are coming from.
