If it were my truck, I personally would not get the rotors turned. They are too cheap. Better to replace them. But this is just my opinion. As for price, it all depends on the pads and rotors you want to run. Many people on here run the PowerSlot rotors and Hawk brake pads. When my truck needs new brakes, that's what I will be running also.

 

Rotors are about $16 each to true up. Pads, with shims are about $80 per axle.

 

40 dollars per pair of pads, 15 bucks per each rotor, 2 cans of brake cleaner, 2 hours labor.

Do it yourself and save some money on labor.

thanks for the info guys. Those hawk pads look like theyre 95 bux each set. Is there any cheaper but still quality options?
Also do I need to replace the rotors, or can they be turned?

 

I usually get the mid range brake pads at the local parts store. When you go to a parts store the cost for pads range from 19.99-100.00. I usually get the ones that cost 40.

Now can the rotors be turned that depends on some factors. What is there current thickness. Is there enough metal there to be shaved off. Are they cooked ( rainbow color on the metal with cracks in the metal, the discoloration is from heat, the cracks are from heat as well). Most places will not turn rotors that are in this condition. Another thing is are they warped. If they are warped then they usually refuse to turn them. Are they severly damaged, this would be from driving around with a brake pad that was wore out completely causing metal to metal contact with the pad back plate and the rotor.

 

do your self a favor though be careful when pushing the pistons back in the caliper. If you do it wrong they will break they are some kind of composite not metel. This s an exspensive mistake If you can find the caliper..Just ask me how I know I got in to much of a hurry.
