Archoil is it worth it?

Is Archoil worth putting in your oil and fuel? I tried the small sample bottle for the fuel. It seemed less smoky and run better. But, not a huge difference. Also, on the oil side of things. You hear all about how it helps sticktion in the spool valves etc. However, is there any problem with harming rod and main bearings? Clogging oil coolers? Anybody swear by this stuff?

You'll get a lot of people on here that swear by it and a few that don't believe in it.
My personal experience is it works very well.

Okay. cool. Thanks for the feedback. What fuel additives do you use? I currently don't use anything. Temps around here don't get to the gelling stage. Had water in fuel a lot. I so far think I found the issue. Not bad gas station but, when I pulled my fuel tank I found a breather hose not connected and the pick up screen broke off.

I use Stanadyne lubricity & performance alternately , at every fill up up for 2 reasons, one is because it demulsifies water, and two because ULSD is made for later model trucks and it doesn't have the lubricating properties of the older fuel available when our trucks were new. FWIW you should drain your water separator at least once a month, many 6.0 owners probably don't do it as often as they should because it requires an allen wrench instead of just flipping a lever like the 7.3 and 6.4 (don't have any experience with the 6.7) Based on user reports and test results Archoil oil additive reduces friction like it's supposed to and has the added bonus of reducing stiction, and their fuel additive makes the fuel charge burn more uniformly, and Rev-X works like Archoil. On this forum those are the only 2 oil additives that are not considered snake oil by the majority, There are a number of good fuel additives, just look for one that demulsifies water and increases cetane. IMHO fuel additive is needed and oil additives are not if you use quality oil and change it on time, but Archoil & Rev-X won't hurt and they do work for stiction and increasing lubricity. So if it makes you feel good or your injectors are acting up, use it. Oh yeah, the 6.4 & 6.7 with the different fuel injection system are more sensitive to water in fuel so those drivers should be draining their separators and using an additive to control water.

I think archoil really works well for cold weather starts. Out here where it is routinely below zero for weeks and months on end, I use it every oil change. There are members who say it's a waste of money, for me, I'll waste $40 bucks per oil change for piece of mind every time. I've wasted more than that on less important chit than my truck.

I use Archoil AR9100 at every oil change. Figure an ounce (well in this case 16 oz) of prevention is worth a lot. As for fuel, I'm using both Archoil AR6200 and Opti-Lube XPD with each tank.

I do drain my HCFM water separator a couple times a year into clear cup yet never see any water. Not sure why...maybe I'm just lucky? Doubtful. I'm not convinced that these HCFM water separators are very effective. Personally I wish the HCFM fuel filter was also a water blocker absorption filter.

I'll be honest....I cannot tell a difference when using and not using AR6200. So does it help? Well it may be behind the scenes but nothing noticeable in regards to MPG, performance, quietness, etc. My truck has never had stiction and even before replacing my injectors recently, I cannot tell a difference with using the additive.

You only use 1/2 oz (yes 1/2 an ounce) per 40 gallons of fuel so the stuff is highly concentrated. Manufacturer states: "AR6200 improves torque and MPG by addressing issues with poor quality fuel and incomplete combustion and produces a more complete burn, reducing carbon deposits and improving engine performance". My hand calculated MPG hasn't changed nor has any of the overall performance. However I did pull the EGR valve at about 14k miles of use on a new one and it was pretty clean...just a light coating of soot. So maybe it does reduce carbon. You can get it for $45 which treats 640 gallons --- or about 7 cents per gallon of diesel.

Long answer to say "I don't know" if AR6200 is truly worth the coins. I may just use what I have and then go without to see if MPG or something changes. However, I will continue with Opti-Lube XPD....that much I know.

I just ordered another bottle for an upcoming oil change

Thank yall for all the insight and feedback. Was on the fence about adding anything to my oil. I run the standard Rotella T 15W-40. Might start adding an oil and fuel additive. I try and drain the fuel but not as often as I should. Does anybody know what freakin size allen wrench? I have one that does the job but is not correct. I went though literally a pile of them and didn't find exact fit.

I believe it's a 6mm. You might wanna look at getting the updated drain plug...it looks MUCH more user friendly!

Here's my experience using it- I bought a 2006 truck last year that was at a Honda dealer but came from a ford dealer as a trade-in and then was sent to auction. Truck looked brand new, was under 75k miles, king ranch with all options. I Was thinking why did the ford dealer just not resell it? Well, test drove it at the lot (a honda dealership bought it) and it ran great. No evidence of headgasket leak, all stock, etc. still I wondered why the ford dealer offed it as clean older diesels are high dollar in northern california.

Decided to test drive it the next morning and arrived when they first opened. Dealer salesman said I'll start it and bring it around for you. I Said no, I'll start it and we can take a test drive from there. Well, when I started it, it was missing on one cylinder and had noticable shaking. After a few minutes, the cylinder did begin firing. Now I knew what was up! Also found out (by stopping by the next day) that the dealer was going out to start it each morning so it would be good and warm most of the day if anyone test drove it. It was sitting there running and no one was looking at it at 9am!

Had it checked out at a diesel shop and once warm, cylinder contributions were good along with everything else. Took a chance on it and bought it. Added archoil to the oil the next day and within 2 days the cold start miss was completely gone! I've put 5k on the truck since then and it runs perfectly whether towing our trailer to the mountians or driving around town. In my case, it was a savior!

I used to use Revx when I had stock injectors that started sticking a little.
It helped some, but not 100%.
I have Blackstone reports showing the high potassium and boron from the Revx.
Potassium and boron when mixed act as a cleansing agent (think Ajax etc).
Not to say that is harmful, but Blackstone said those levels were very high.

After I put in a new set of injectors (stock injectors), I switched to Archoil for every oil change.
Those injectors were in for about 35k miles, before I sent them to Rykan at Holders for the 175/30 upgrade.
He said they looked great inside, and saw no issues.

I still run Archoil on every change, and Blackstone reports every time.
They said my oil looks great every time, and to keep up what I am doing.
No need for me to change that.

Side note- I run TCW3 at a 1oz per gallon of diesel on every fill up, along with 8oz of Diesel Kleen grey bottle.

I used rev-x WAY back when it first came out, my video was on their website for a few years in fact, it worked very well, so much so after about three treatments I stopped adding it at all....it took a few years after that before any stiction came back. I then tried some hot shots just to try it.....Itty didn't do squat, on the next oil change I used archoil and it worked just as good as rev-x, I'm now due for another change, and I'll be putting archoil back in again.

I started using Archoil products a few years ago. Found out about them by accident while looking for friction modifiers that could be used in lube oil for 4500hp, 12kv horizontal pumps. The reviews were many, always positive- and hard to believe, and they make an additive for the 6.0? I also own a 05 F350, 6.0 that I have spent my kids inheritance repairing.

I'm also a former drag racer from the 70's and 80's. We were always looking for that magic elixir. This included using the wife's spaghetti pot to heat up cans of STP so I could pour it into the hemi 4-speed on my 69 Roadrunner.

Well I gave it a try. Used it in my oil change. Started the truck and noticed an immediate change in the sound of the engine, quieter, idle smoothed out. After putting about 50 miles on it I noticed my slight stiction issue went away. I live in Nevada and work in San Diego, CA, truck always used 21 gal of fuel going home, (not towing my trailer). With the Archoil I used 18 gal. This is based on around 30 trips. I also use the AR6200 in the fuel tank- 15ml in 38 gal.

Anything that helps with friction and heat has to be a plus. I have since started using it in the fuel, engine, and stick shift for my 87 Turbo Coupe with a FI 302. Same results- motor idle smoothed out, noticed a difference in the 5 speed shifting.

Cost is nothing when you consider the benefits and how expensive repairs have become.

Hope this helps someone trying to decide what and if additives can help.

This is the kind of Testimonial I'm looking for. Thank you! Been contemplating using this stuff in my 05 for awhile now, My truck is low mileage and 100% stock with NO problems but I'm thinking this stuff would prevent future issues. I've looked into it for awhile and see nothing but great reviews!

I don't have the tranny that came on the car. Original motor and trans were junk. What gears were you looking for?

The swap was done with a 88 Lincoln LSC 302, 96 Cobra 5 speed, 8.8 w/ 355's, brakes, rotors are 88 LSC, 96 Cobra 2.5" "X" pipe, cats.

I don't remember the exact ratios.......there are other t5's that will "work" but the turbo cars had a unique gear set.
Or were you asking what gears were bad? .....input and main shaft is shot.

I have a few hundred miles on my Archoil AR9100 and not sure if there is a difference. Going to put 1-2oz in my steering to see what that does. Will have the fuel stuff soon so I will see.

But I have no stiction issues at 55K

The fuel additive never made a visible difference to me. Did not change the way it ran..the MPG...acceleration etc.
I stick with Diesel Klean and Stanedynes lubricity formula. The reason is it follows my basic rule of engine fluids " use what is easily available".....I can get it easily at Wally World or Tractor Supply. I "try" to avoid fluids that are regularly changed or added that I have to order....it reduces my consistency of use as I will inevitable forget to order it.

I do use Archoil oil additive. Does it make a difference...not sure. But it won't hurt and I only use it at an oil change so fine...if it helps...great ...if not..it isn't hurting. But it did not solve world hunger...global climate change...erectile dysfunction... or the mystery of the female orgasm for me.

I get oil in buckets and ar9100 in a gallon. Just treat the bucket at the 1.2oz/quart and measure the oil out.
