The 5R110 holds up great to power...

If you're planning on a possible swap, don't. The 4r100 when built properly will be cheaper and stronger.

 

No, not going to do a swap. Thinking about trading up to a newer truck and was wondering what I would need to do to get it to 500 hp.

 

Getting a 6.0L to 400hp or a little over is relatively cheap. Tuner, exhaust, and a set of gauges. Water/meth or NOS can get you to 450+ pretty quick after that if you're in to drugs (I just say no. lol.) Beyond that it starts costing you. Injectors and turbo upgrades are the next steps, but not until you spend some money on a fuel system as well.

 

Before you go drugs, you'll want to do studs

In fact... I'd personally do the studs before running a race program...

Ford claims that the torqshift will hold 1,200 ft. lbs. stock. Definetely need studs if going for that kind of power. Would block off EGR also.

 

Will the 5R110 bolt up to the 7.3 and work?

 

NO, and I don't know anyone who is making a conversion yet.
