I have a 2005 F-350 6.0 and I need to replace the evaporator core. There is an aluminum shield on the evaporator case - how is it removed? How do I get the evaporator cover off? I don't need to remove the whole assembly just the cover. Also I don't have a shop manual is there anyone that could post those pages or e-mail them to me? I have removed the accumulator, orifice tube and cycling switch only the evaporator is left. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have managed to get my cover off but never out of the truck. Maybe because I was only trying to clean my core and not remove it. But to get the heat shield off there are 6 little disk type push on clips that I removed using a trim removal tool and 2 screw drivers to rock them off of their posts. Ther are 2 on top 2 on the bottom and 2 in the very back towards the firewall. I found that for the 4 lower ones you have to come in from under the truck. After the heat shield is removed the cover has 11 bolts scattered around the cover. I start with the 3 on the top and work my way around. It's a real PITA. Once you get the cover off I could not find a way to actually get it out of the truck. I removed the trans dipstick tube which got me almost there sliding it forward but it kept hanging up on the edge of the core and the valve cover. But since you are taking the core out with the case it might come out for you. If anyone has a trick on how to get the cover out without removing the core I would love to hear it.I think I could have gotten it if I pulled the passenger side valve cover but I didn't want to go that far.
Thank you ChallengerRV. I got the top 2 off but cant see or get to the bottom ones. it may not do me any good to continue on this path if I can't get the cover off to get evap core out. I may have to remove the whole unit, which I din't want to do.

I was thinking that if I could lift out the whole core and cover at the same time It might have come out. I was trying to clean and had not evacuated my system. It sounds like yours is empty and all taken apart. I wish I had done the Evap core when I had my system empty. You do have to remove the trans dipstick tube and the hot side CAC pipe. The little clips are a little hard to find on the heat shield. It wraps around the bottom of the box and you will find them about in the middle and then about in the middle of the back side of the box near the firewall. I came up from underneath and I had also taken out the fender liner.
CallengerRV, Thanks for the additional information. FYI I just purchased a 2005 Ford F-350 service manual download from repairmanualnow. The download states it is a 2004-2008 F series repair manual, not 2005 which is what I ordered, however it does not include 6.0 information just 6.4 and 6.7 and gas engines. It shows how to remove those model evaporators which are completely different from the 2005. Buyer beware this is not what they say it is.
