Hey Folks, Today my turn signals stopped working for some strange reason. All the other lights are working like they should. No blown fuses. As far as I can tell all the connections are good. Has anyone else experienced this problem, I'm betting has, and if so what was the problem? I'd appreciate any and advice.

-wiring in the steering column (super common to find a small crack/break)
-flasher box (remove cover covering panel under steering wheel, and it should be behind the heating duct (have to remove to replace or test)
-Did you see if there was actual power to the related fuse? The fuse may not be blown but there may be no power coming to it anyways.

Emergency flashers work along with all other lights. The only thing not working is the turn signals. All bulbs are good. I tried moving the multi switch connector, thinking it might be loose, but it was tight and had no effect. I moved the wiring, thinking maybe it's a broken wire, and got nothing. Does anyone know which pins on the connector I should have power on and which are ground? I don't have a schematic to work from. If anyone has one and could shoot me a copy I would greatly appreciate it. The timing on this really couldn't be worse. I'm moving cross country in a week and I can't afford to be dealing with issues like this right now. Murphy really likes screwing with me every chance he gets.

heres a story, two weeks ago our 2000 f550 lost all signals, i said hey check the brake lights and there were no brake lights... went out on a whim and replaced the flasher up under the dash to the right above the accelerator and i was like “ theres no way this will fix it but i need this bucket truck going” sure enough it fixed it. occasionally i would put my signal on in the past and it would just light up that side but not flash. we lost signals and brake lights because of it

Okay problem solved. It ended up being a loose connection on the top plug for the multi switch. The locking tab that holds the connector into the switch had broken I guess because of age. Anyway pushed the connector back into the switch a little dab of five minute epoxy and all is well.Everything is now working like it should. Thanks to everybody for your advice and your insight. I really do appreciate it. I really love it when a problem ends up being a quick fix and cost nothing to fix it. On a side note, for those that don't know or who have never done it, you do not have to remove the dash bezel in order to get the shroud off of the steering column. You just have to remove the three screws holding it together and then tilt the steering wheel all the way down move the gear selector to the neutral position and it will come off just as easy as you please. The reason I added that is because I had seen in several places where guys were talking about having to remove the dash bezel in order to get the shroud off of the steering column and you do not have to do that.by not having to remove that it saves you a little bit of time and a whole lot of aggravation trying to get that thing off. Not to mention you avoid the risk of breaking something trying to get it off when you don't need to. The plastic in these trucks is old it's aged and it's become brittle and it doesn't take a whole lot to break that stuff so if you can avoid having to take that stuff apart you're way ahead of the game. Just a little advice.

I've had the same experience. It's really frustrating when you don't know what the final outcome was or how they got there. It's really important to keep in mind that alot of the folks that are reading forums are inexperienced and or new to the diesel world. Some, like myself, are experienced mechanics but none of us knows it all. Having the benefit of other folks knowledge and experience is priceless. Passing those things along to others is what keeps these trucks on the road. Let's face it. Most of us can't afford the expense of paying someone else to fix our trucks and I personally wouldn't do it if I could. I feel like if I can't fix it then I don't need to be driving it and having the benefit of others experience and knowledge helps in doing that. I also enjoy helping others in figuring out their problems if I can.

Josh, that's crazy how the flasher affects the brake lights. You would think it would be two separate circuits. On most vehicles it is. These trucks have some pretty unique wiring in them. It can really make ya take a step back and scratch your head sometimes trying to figure out what it's doing and why.
