70 hp injectors what cc roughly

so i have a injector bad in my 05 6.0 and i called a local place superior turbo and injection down in Detroit and they said they have stock injectors in stock for $203 a injector or they have 70HP injectors in stock for $235 a injector or about $2000 out the door. i know the 70HP are made by flight System electronics and i think the stock ones they have are too.

i will most likely be buying from them no matter what cause they are local and i can pull my injectors out take them to them and get a set in return for little down time. i also know a bunch of ppl that have had good experiences with them and have had a good experience with them myself with rebuilding my turbo.

so im wondering does anybody have experience with flight system electronics injectors?

and they guy at Superior says they are 70hp injectors, and from my little bit of searching around it sounds like they are around 175cc, does that sound about right???

im planning on doing a powermax, arp head studs, and AirDog2

thanks in advance for the help

Never heard of them....honestly i would stay away from injector builders who are not known by many. If you want good injectors and a fair price....give Jesse Warren a call at Warren Diesel. From the feedback i've heard on powerstrokearmy.com and on powerstrokenation.com, his injectors are awesome.

are his injectors new remans that he modifys or he just modify's yours assuming they are good, cause i got a bad injector and a few that are showing signs of weekness so i want to replace all of them at the same time, they have 110,000 on them so i dont wanna do the job over and keep having one go bad.

and like i said i cant have the truck down for long, also dad is paying for it so he kinda decides all in all what gets done and he would rather put the stock ones from Superior in then to upgrade at all.

if i had it my way then i would be putting cassidy's 175 injectors in

anybody know about the 70hp to cc question

thanks

Jesse Warren can do them either way. Either send in your cores and have them built or have a new set built. I have casserly 190's and they are great injectors. Like said i've never heard of Superior...so i would buy anything but stock injectors from them. I wouldn't trust getting injectors from a place i never heard of or have heard any feedback from.

I have 70 hp injectors from RCD and they only flow 135mm. Truck did perk up a quite a bit with the stock tune in it. It felt like it had a custom tune in it with just the injectors. I believe that RCD just puts a new EDM nozzle on them to get what they are supposed to flow from the factory. From the factory they only flow about 100-105cc. If I had to do it over I would get 175's from warren diesel or maybe some 155's if he could make them. If you know and trust your local shop that they wont screw you, I dont see any problem for you going local.

You buy injectors by cc not HP. You can get 190's and a crappy tune and make less HP than stock 135's or a set of 155's if your tunes are crap.

FWIW--The spool valves are what goes bad 95+% of the time. If you send a set to be rebuilt with bad spool valves they're coming back that way. That's why Cass only uses Ford reman injectors and doesn't rebuild used ones anymore. You can't buy spool valve replacements.

so sense i havn't got a answer

on innovative diesel's site they list 155cc injectors as 50HP and 190cc as 90HP so would it be safe to assume that the 70HP injectors that Superior Turbo is talking about is about a 175cc injector

i plan to call soon and ask for the specs on the injectors

i defiantly trust Superior turbo and Injection, they have been in business for a long time and all they mainly do is fuel injection and forced induction that i know of and they have a pretty big operation.

If you read my last post I told you that my 70hp injectors flow 135 because they have new EDM nozzles. I bet if you were to call Superior and ask them I hope they know how much there injectors flow.

#11 ·
i did read it but at the time i didnt know u could get more power out of nozzles, and by the sounds of it they prob are just modified nozzles. and Superior is just like the dealer, they are flight system injectors.

#12 ·
only way to know is just call them. Ask them if their injectors have just nozzle modifications or if the injector itself is modified along with bigger nozzles. A larger "cc" injector will be machined and have modified internals for delivering more fuel...hence the larger "cc" number depends how much larger it is.

If the nozzle flows more than stock which they do, then they will make more power. Have you asked Superior what they flow even if they do just sell them? I bet they have flow tested a couple maybe if they are an injection based company.

If the nozzle flows more than stock which they do, then they will make more power.

In today's modern diesel technology this is far from the truth. You need custom tuning to be sure that you are getting the performance out of the new nozzles.

All trucks will not react to the changes the same way. Some people run "XXX" part and get great results. Another runs the same "XXX" part with poor results. It's the nature of the beast.

My own case in point: I won't run Amzoil if you gave it to me. My motor doesn't run or sound like it should. I run Valvoline, Mobil 1, or T6 which make the motor purr and run MUCH better. Others swear by Amzoil and have great results. Same motors so why does it react different?? :dunno::dunno:

Apples to oranges yes but just an example of my point.

I agree tuning plays a large roll in bigger injectors. However you can still put a larger injector in a truck and run it with stock programming and make a bit more power. I've been running my truck with the 64/71/70 turbo and casserly 190's with stock tune for a few days and it runs very well.

From my experiance, the Flight System injectors are stock injectors with either 75% or 100% tips on them. No internal modifications were done. Now they might have changed some stuff from the the first time I saw the injectors, which was right when they started doing the performance injectors. But I would venture a guess that they are still being built the same way.

so i went and got them today and the nozzles are stamped 100 on them so i guess they are 100%nozzles. put them in and the power wasent the biggest increase, my mods in my sig. the reason supieror didnt really have info on the injecters is cause the guy that i talked to said he builds all the 7.3 and cummings injectoors in house and these are the only ones he doesnt build in house.

smoke increased alittle and throttle response got better, but definatly didnt add 70 HP. but my truck idles smooth and doesnt shuttler when the TC locks :)

curious if anyone ever figured out a sure answer on these flight injectors, cc? nozzle size? I just got the same ones put in my truck and when i go to get my custom tune i wanna know what to tell them the specs on the injectors.

Ask them. We're all just pissin into the wind with guesses! You need to determine volume, which can be done before you put them in the truck; and nozzle size. With any other COMMON RAIL fuel system, the nozzles typically are rated for HP gains. This does not work for HEUI injectors.

This is a really old thread from back in the day of "mystery" internals. They are probably just plugged spill ports with original or 30% nozzles.

I really wish I could find the thread where it describes the way an injectors work because it really was an ingenious analogy and I'll try too type it off my head from memory. So basically we size our injectors by let's just say 190/75. 190 is the size of the injectors wich means it holds 190cc of fuel and the 75 is the percentage over from stock. Let's say you take a 1 gallon bucket and put a hole in it and fill it with water and let it drain. Then you take a 5 gallon bucket and put the same sized hole in it. It won't flow more even though there's more but it will be holding more but if you increase by 35% then you will get 35% out quicker. Therefore your power will really be based off the last number. I beleive you will probably be looking at a 175/50 for a 70 hp injector. I may be entirely wrong as I am no diesel guru just a enthusiasts. On a side note I'm running warrens 190/75 injectors and absolutely love them.

Just sent in a set to Jess Warren. The ones I sent have not quite 15,000 on them. I'm having do 175/0 + solenoid work.

This is all custom work for them so no more stiction. EVER!
Not that I had much of an issue but it'll start much easier when it 20 or 30 below.....

Can't wait to install them...

And Jess was so prompt answering my emails and the staff on the phone was awesome too!

Because the Banks system doesn't tune the tranny (if auto) and doesn't accept custom tunes which are needed for bigger injectors.

I recommend an SCT X3 or X4, if you look around most popular tuners will include some custom tunes when you buy one. If you want to be cheap you can get one from Craigslist or something but make sure it's unmarried and has at least 1 unlock left. I don't recommend the Livewire TS because (I don't know if it's just mine or everyone's) mine has a terrible touch screen.
