Just picked up a 14 f250 with 75k on it and drove it a few hundred miles before changing the oil. Once I changed the oil I started to notice that typical typewriter tick noise. I brought it by the dealer just to double check and make sure it wasn’t something else. They told me it didn’t sound like the typical noises after an oil change and sounded like something internal. I dropped it off at another shop that said the same. I’ve only driven it a couple hundred miles since the oil change and it hasn’t changed. It doesn’t do it right on start up, it starts once the motors warmed up. It also isn’t just at idle. It will increase as the engine rpms increase. I’ve talked to a few other people who have said their trucks do it after an oil change but the sound doesn’t increase when hitting the throttle. Used the ford oil and filter.

Here’s a quick vid of it

Could be normal (see link below)

Or it could be an exhaust manifold leak. I had a 2010 F150 that had the exact same tick that only appeared after the engine warmed-up, and matched the RPMs. Turned out to be a small gap where the exhaust manifold met the block that made a "tick" sound when the closest cylinder fired. The gap was caused by the manifold warping slightly against the block (a common problem on those 150's)

Yours may not be a warped manifold, but it could be a manifold leak of some type.

My fathers 2014 truck does the same thing and has been doing it for well over 20k miles after every oil change. Scares the sh*t out of me every time 😂

Yes I brought the truck, drove it home 300 miles drove it the next day and didn’t notice the noise at all. The following day I changed the oil in the morning then heard the noise by the afternoon when I went to take it out again. Just wasn’t sure if I missed the noise before or if it was just from the oil change.
