6.7 battery suggestions

I'm having a hard time finding good feedback on the replacement batteries for the 6.7... My turbo blew while on X-Mas vacation and somewhere between the tow to nearest Ford, tow to Ford house where I bought the truck, the batteries are toast...
I've looked through the forum and it seems that most recomend replacing both at once regardless if one is still limping by.. SAID, has anyone had any good experiences with aftermarket batteries they'd be willing to share with me? OR do you think I should just replace w/ the OEM...My setup is listed below..

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure about the Motorcraft brand batteries. But to me a battery does one thing; supply a reliable power source. If and when mine go out I would get Optima. But that's all opinion. It has a lot do to with current budget. Some people can't fork out that kind of money for 2 top of line batteries. I would stay away from the autozone specials like durajunk batteries. Yeah they have a warranty but it won't help you out when your stranded out in the middle of nowhere and can't start your truck.

Consumer Reports did a test of batteries several years ago. If memory serves me, I think they recommended Diehard batteries as one of the top options. Also, Sears batteries were well recommended.
Now, that said, I don't know how much stock I put in CR! They have never rated our trucks very well. If they had a Honda "H" on the hood they probably would, but I digress...
Replacing both batteries is smart. The old battery will kill the new one prematurely and cost you $$ in the long run.

I know its not a truck but its a good battery tester. My harley davidson v-twin Buell (hoped up sportster motor 1203 73ci). Runs hot as the dessert takes a ton of CCA an shakes likes a black booty. harley batteries die in a year, anything from batteries plus maybe a year. NAPA AGM batteries not the best not the most expensive but they last me 3+ years with a rickety harley. Just my OpInIoN.

When my 07's batteries went out, I stayed with motorcraft buy upgraded to the 850cca instead of the 750s the trucks come with. Never had another issue. That is what I will do when mine go in this truck.

I personally would not replace them with Motorcraft batteries. I had to replace the driver's side battery twice for leaking. Something is going on with the battery on that side, either too much heat or current.

I decided to replace both of them with the NAPA Legend Premium AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat), no leaking and no signs of failure. I did have to clean the (-) post on the driver's side and spray some sealer on it, again something is wrong with that side, but at least now it is not leaking acid.

If you are looking for an aftermarket agm batteries, stay away from Optima. I've was big into car audio a few years back and tested out a lot of aftermarket higher end batteries. I did swap my dual batteries out with XS Power brand in my 2012 f350. Even though they are overkill, I know these batteries from experience will handle the highest demands. I also am running a decent sized power inverter so it definitely helps with that as well.

By a battery that fits with the highest CCA you can find....doesnt drain the battery as bad to turn that big motor over which = longest battery life!!!!

Optimas are hit and miss....when you get a good one its awesome....When you get a bad one oh my....Went through 3 last year in the boat....All under warranty but swapped out to a good ole advance battery like I run in my truck.

Like already posted, Diehard Platinum AGM are my go to. They are expensive but a lot of times you can catch them on sale at Sears or they offer a good deal.

When I got mine, it was last Christmas and not only did I get $50 off each battery, I also got 10% cashback from using my Discover card.

So you figure normal asking price of $530 out the door, I ended up only being out $375-380 plus the 930 CCA/135 RC and longer 4 year warranty being the Platinums. Couldn't be more happy with how it worked out and the truck lights off.

EDIT: just looked and the Gold AMG version of them is normally only $200 a battery instead of the normal price of $250 for the Platinum. Might be worth saving a 100 bucks if the drop down is worth it to you. With the Gold AMG you lose 1 year of the warranty only having 3 years instead of 4 and it drops down to 775 CCA/120 RC. In order for me to get the $50 back on each battery, each had to at least cost $200 before tax. With the Golds being 199.99, it was worth it to me to jump up to the Platinums to get the deal but if not I probably would have just got the Gold AGM.

That is all my brother in law runs in his 7.3/6.0/6.7 fleet (about 15 trucks). Yes they are very good batteries.

I think you need to check again.. Interstate batteries have a 24-30 month free replacement and a 5-6 year prorated warranty on batteries for the 6.7.

And what is so bad about their customer service? If your battery test fails, it is replaced within the warranty guidelines... It's not like it's a "can't duplicate the issue, please be on your way" like dealerships.

For those who have had to replace their batteries on their Scorpion, how long are they lasting? It sometimes amazes me that the 60 month batteries will last 59 months and 29 days! (my last truck).

Go to your local Napa and buy Napa 7235 batteries group 31 and never look back.

because I bought interstates for my 6.4 and within 2 years you couldn't listen to the radio for 15 minutes without them going dead. I took it to batteries plus and they both tested bad, took them to auto zone and both tested bad took them to interstate and viola they were fine. He then told me it didn't matter because in a diesel they only have a 1 year warranty. It was 5 till 5 and I told the manager I wouldn't leave until they did something so they ended up giving me one for free but I had to buy the other. I will never buy one again.

Ok, I can accept your situation and what you experienced as a negative one. However i will say that every company out there has a complaint lingering somewhere.

Not sure which battery you had but straight from their website they list 2 batteries with the warranty I described.

Car and Truck Automotive Batteries - Buy a Vehicle Battery for Cars or Trucks | Interstate Batteries - Automotive / Truck 2013 Ford F-350 V8/6.7L

Not defending their actions.. just saying that I don't believe that is the norm with them.

When you go Motorcraft, 3 year replacement, 4 additional years prorated and the dealer installs them for free. It's a good choice for a fair price. Never had an issue with them when I bought my 2nd set for my 07 and that motor cranked much harder then the 6.7.

I think this is all up to opinion. Everybody has a good or bad experience with some particular brand. Strokinpower already said it, "there's only 2-3 battery manufacturers in the world" and those 2-3 make every major readily available brand of battery. There are a few that are different, Lifeline Batteries comes to mind. Insanely expensive, but if you really need a good battery....

Same is true of engine oil. The generic store brand is always a rebranded "name brand".

Don't fall for hype and advertising. Buy the battery that has the best warranty with the same or better CCA.

Reviving this thread since my truck is dead at home. How about Duralast Plat AGM's? They got really good reviews, only downfall is they have a 3 year warranty and 750 CCA. Saw that people didn't like Interstate as that was my next option. Ford will be closed by the time I get out of work to see if they have any in stock.

Not to compliment the Duralast brand because its been a good and bad gamble for me with them but at least Autozones are everywhere if it ever goes out early and they are open past 5pm. I through a set on my 2004 6.0L in 2012 and they lasted past the 3 year mark before I sold it.
