@LoxDiesel the early model stuff is crap.

 

The early model stuff isn’t crap but w/e floats your boat. You can do the 05+ stuff but you just have to make sure you get the earlier 05 rocker boxes, the dowel pins in the later years were bigger where the box goes into the head.

Ok i wont say crap but ive heard way more stories of the earlier pumps failing than i have the later ones and on this truck this is the 3rd pump to fail and since i gotta replace the rocker box as is i figure why not upgrade and i cant seem to get any good straight answers out of anyone

 

The '03-'04 OEM pumps were not the greatest, but their are pretty decent aftermarket options for replacement now. There are also some that aren't even as good as the OEMs were. Buyer beware. If you've got all of the pieces necessary to change to the newer style pump and it's going to be apart anyway, go for it. There's no real reason not to. If you have to buy all of the parts needed, an updated old style pump from @Corey@CNCFAB or an Adrenaline pump will probably be a lot cheaper.

 

Ill have to buy all the parts but i also gotta buy a bunch of parts just to repair it as is

Our updated early HPOP's fix the notorious issue of the backplate wearing out with an updated housing. @LoxDiesel has installed a few of them for his customers and we have not had one issue in, well, any of our pumps for that matter.

@Corey@CNCFAB 3 to be precise. I have yet to see an 03 or 04 that needed the hpop replaced more than once. One and done.

my early 04 i had to change out the hpop after only 20,000 miles
reason
i was a dumbass when i fist bought my truck and got a pump from orealies. seriously failed one week after the warranty ran out...how do they even DO that :surprise:

a terminator engineering pump
which is what i have now with zero issues but only because corey hadnt finished his upgrade pup when i ordered my terminator
or an adrenaline pump and yhou are good to go
you CAN go to 05 parts but honestly coreys pumps or mine or an adrenaline will out flow them
so why?
every year has its issues i would strongly consider reading up on the year you have and fixing its weak points rather than just importing the weal point of other years over to your truck.
i firmly believe you will be far happier in the long run that way :nod:
