pull the turbo off, remove the turbo drain and turbo pedestal. remove the ipr from the pump. remove the pump cover, you can fanagle it out without removing intake. once cover is off, the pump is exposed, 5 fastners and it comes out.

Much more labour intensive on a 2003 model year, due to the crossover at the rear of the intake that is exclusive to 2003 model years, mandates its removal to access. You can remove the intake with the EGR cooler connected to it, if you know what you're doing. Once removed, simply remove the cover for access to the pump.

Not to mention the early cast iron cover won't clear even on an intake without the crossover tube.

If you're doing this for the first time, at home, I would remove the intake. You don't wanna drop one of those bolts from the cover down into the HPOP cavity.

High Pressure Oil Pump

As I was reading this blog, I was wondering when replacing the HPOP, does the HPOP come with a kit that includes gaskets, o-rings etc.. to replace when reattaching the turbo and the like?
