Bought a 2014 f450 cab and chassis yesterday and It seems to run fine but I know the turbos are known for failure especially on a cab and chassis. I’m getting ready to “upgrade” the exhaust and from my research that is even worse for the factory turbo. Considering upgrading to the 2015+ turbo but I know it is considerably bigger will this be ok with a cab and chassis? This is a work truck that I want to tow heavy trailers, will I get a lot of lag with the 2015 turbo? If I do swap the turbo what is a safe power level? Chassis trucks only have 300hp stock. Reliability is my primary concern.
